I think that I want this in development and not optimization. I'm not focusing on maximizing my skills, but making a fun hybrid build that works. I don't know exactly how a hybrid is built, so I need some help from all the experts out here. I know I want to focus on Strength, then Wisdom as my two stats, making me more of a wild warden/battle cleric. I want to make my character dependent on no one, but if someone needed help, then I could be there to heal or take over as the beat stick. I looked at some of the hybrid builds on the OP thread, but I want a level 1 build, not a finished level 30 build. I was thinking taking 16 to STR/WIS at level 1 and then putting the rest in CON, DEX and CHA, dumping INT.
I think I'm going Earthstrength Warden/Cleric. 18 Str 16 Con 12 Dex 8 Int 14 Wis 10 Cha. Take Hybrid Talent Armored Might at level 1. and Fort from Warden Take the powers: Righteous Brand, Strength From Stone, Healing Strike and Shield of the Gods. For Equipment: A Heavy Sheild, Amulet of Protection, Longsword and Veteran's Hide +1
That should give me 30 HP, 7 S. Value, and 11 surges/day; 17 ac/16 fort/ 14 ref/ 13 will
If you're serious about healing/protection, look into Healing Word related feats later on. Channel Divinity feats for Protection/Life would also be very nice for the flavor aspect.
Were you planning on multiclassing in the future? If so, Paladin could really help round out your concept.
If you have the Adventurer's Vault, be sure to purvey the magic items closely. I know there are several items that aren't really all that powerful, but the flavor is definately there, such as Matyr's Armor and Lifegiving Armor.
Well, at least it's a good start. I put that I was going 16STR/WIS, but put 14 later on. So with Racial Bonuses it would be 18Str/14Con/12Dex/8Int/18Wis/10Cha. 14 Con would drop me only 2 HP to 28 right? Defs Would go up some too. 19AC/16F/14R/15W.
I think since I need simple melee weapons to start with, I'll go with a mace, and take a craghammer later. Is that a good idea, or focus feats on the healing, and take only a weapon focus/expertise feat?
I will look into Healing Word feats. What books in general do I need to focus on for those? My feats then need to focus on healing & defense. Those armors are good, but I can't take those unless I can upgrade to scale. I need some hide that flows good. I think Stoneborn Hide Armor from AV would be a good start for this build.
And to the multiclassing, I didn't think about it at all. I'm guessing to wait until Paragon or Epic to worry about that. Spoiler:Show

You're right about the HP.
For the Healing Word boosting, look at Divine Power, since that's where I get most of mine. (Also the place to get domain feats.) I do not have any of the Essentials line, however, and some things may be present there. Maybe by perusing the Cleric's handbook in CharOp you can find out?
