it's not out of their control: they could contract a different payment processor to handle this end of their business. it is entirely wizards' decision to use digital river and nobody else's. so affixing the blame for that decision is actually the only way of fixing the problem, which is digital river.

You know, I changed my mind. I'm quite sure your suggestions will result in the OP getting his problem fixed. Thanks for helping. You're awesome.
OD&D, 1E and 2E challenged the player. 3E challenged the character, not the player. Now 4E takes it a step further by challenging a GROUP OF PLAYERS to work together as a TEAM. That's why I love 4E.

whereas, you know being condescending and rude while avoiding the specifics of what i'm saying is helping advance the discussion a tremendous amount? the quality of discourse on these forums is ridiculous, even by internet standards. the problem is that dr are lousy at what they do. replacing them helps this poster and others, like me. it also helps wizards. what exactly is wrong with us highlighting this fact?

In the meantime, OP, do you have your Paypal account set up to pull from a credit or debit card? If so, could you instead set up Paypal to pull directly from a bank account, thereby dodging the CC issue altogether? If I'm reading this right, DR says it's a CC issue and you say you're using Paypay so I thought maybe you're both right - DR is trying to get PayPal to pay up but can't because they're having an issue with the CC associated with your PayPal account. Alternatively, if all that stuff I said IS the case, maybe you could assign a different CC to your PayPal account and see how that goes.
I use my "credit card" (actually a debit mastercard) to pay bills, and my PayPal account to buy games over Steam. They both work perfectly well. If DR has a problem with either of them, then DR is at fault.

Well, yes, that's true, DR is obviously the problem here but since just registering complaints with them isn't getting you anywhere, is it possible for you to try hooking up PayPal directly to your bank account (the account your debit card draws from) or to use a different credit card with or without PayPal? If that's not possible or practical, that's unfortunate ... those are the only things I can think of. I hope this helps.
I still think "We appreciate your patience that this may have caused you" is hilarious.

You know, I had similar problems with Digital River when I tried to renew my account this year, but even though they wouldn't let me renew it, it seems it renewed on its own or there was an error and they gave me another year of DDI for some odd reason, so I stopped pursuing it.
Digital River is REALLY difficult.

Hey guys, remember me? Nothing has been done to fix my problem. Not a single thing. Digital River has still not even contacted me.

Do an end-run around the problem with DR and set up PayPal to draw directly from your bank account or else use a different card either with or without PayPal. Either of those things would probably get you up and running in short order. I don't think complaining on the forums is going to help you.

I recently had some problems resubscribing to D&DI due to getting database errors and broken pages and Payment Authorization Failed when I went through the subscription process. [...] The following is my tale of woe. [...] Please note: This email message was sent from a notification-only address that cannot accept incoming email. Please do not reply to this message. [...] So there it is. According to my calendar, it's now Tuesday, May 15th. I sure haven't received an update. I'm pretty pissed off, frankly, but I imagine the emails give that impression well enough already. What gives, guys?
Well; that depends on a couple things: By which method did this conversation (if it can be called one) occur? I'd say this is either a direct copy-paste from a most recent email in which all previous emails were quoted, OR this is a series of copy-pasted messages from various messages sent and received using the customer service messaging system.
Depending on that answer, I may have another minor question, but either way I would definitely reserve my judgment until I understand what exactly happened.

Currently I'm in the middle of a similar fiasco. My debit card number changed and my subscription expired. I cannot renew due to errors according to webpage that they are aware of and resolving and I cannot resubscribe as they put a hold on my bank account but the order won't process. We are approaching a week without my account being reactivated. I'm currently several days into their tech support emails and have talked several times to digital river over the phone. Its been escalated on the digital river side but I should hear something today and no go so far.
