Man, you guys read a lot of Sci Fi and fantasy.  Not a lot of nods to the classics so far here.

Anyhoo, I be readin' more Mailer - specifically Oswald's Tale.  Sort of history, sort of fiction.  Fictionalized history, I guess.  Mailer did a lot of research and conducted a lot of interviews (even travelling to Russia to speak with Oswald's wife's family and others that knew him during his time there) to craft this monster.  I'm not in too deep yet but it's sufficiently Mailer to hold my interest.  The man knew how to write.

If you're terribly afraid of your character dying, it may be best if you roleplayed something other than an adventurer.

I read an interesting fictional story about the Cuban Missile Crisis (among other things from that period) by Mailer called Harlot's Ghost.  It was incredibly good.  But it is mostly fiction.

I've read many of "the classics".  But this thread asks what I'm reading.

Right right.  Just seems most people aren't reading stuff like that right now - hence my observation.

It's a rare book that I'll re-read.  Hence my newly developed kindle habit.
