...get Spiked Chain Training AND Surprising Charge as a non-rogue/fighter (pure) class?

No, but I think you already know the answer to this.

Yes, you're right, I am omniscient and was just using this thread to test you mortals.

Flag RuinsFate May 13, 2012 5:53 PM PDT
Traveler's Harlequin. (Not LFR legal, if that's your next question)
Flag zelink551 May 13, 2012 5:53 PM PDT
one requires a MC, the other requires you to be of a class you're not. What else do you expect?
Flag Sceptile May 13, 2012 5:57 PM PDT
Be a Bard? That should still work, right?
Flag zelink551 May 13, 2012 6:00 PM PDT
I assumed he was trying to be a striker, else why grab those two feats?
Flag Sceptile May 13, 2012 6:03 PM PDT
Well, yeah, I'm not sure what the point of that would be, but it DOES solve the problem.
Flag zelink551 May 13, 2012 6:05 PM PDT
Charging Bards make tons of sense...

you seem to be pretty abrasive right now zelink, against pretty much anyone who dares to post.  Calm down a bit, it's getting offensive.

In his defense, it is kind of a silly question.  "Can I get something that has prerequisites without meeting them?".

And yet, OMG! There's a way of doing it!

Funny how that works in an exception-based system.

Seconded.

Questions like this should be asked elsewhere, or not at all- It's not CharOp material, and thus has no use here.

As you're in charop, "that is worth doing" is assumed to be added to every question.  The answer is no.  Sure I COULD be a bard and MC every class,  but why would I?

Flag zelink551 May 13, 2012 7:28 PM PDT
Even better, you could be a charging Bard/Ardent/Cleric/Warlord/Druid/Artificer/Shaman and be every leader at ONCE charging. Not much better than that
Flag Reg06 May 13, 2012 8:27 PM PDT
Where should OP ask this question? Seriously Char Op. OP could have asked General Discussion or the Rules & FAQ, but if someone has a question to about building a character there is literally no other place better at putting things that shouldn't work together in a way that is awesome.

Even if OP already knew the answer, but also knew s/he lacked the system mastery of many Char Oppers, then OP is still right in thinking that somebody here might know of a sneaky way around the problem.

But you don't charge with the shortbow, and so you clearly must be sub-optimal... :P

You need to have Thicket of Blades to be more optimal.

Flag zelink551 May 13, 2012 9:20 PM PDT
Ugh, so true. But can I charge with Thicket of Blades?
Flag Raegoul May 13, 2012 9:28 PM PDT
You can charge with any power that has a gold rating.
Flag zelink551 May 13, 2012 9:29 PM PDT
Really? So can I charge with Magic Weapon...Oh wait, its not gold. Damn...
Flag Raegoul May 13, 2012 9:36 PM PDT
I checked you cant charge with Howling Strike either Cry
Flag Matyr May 13, 2012 9:37 PM PDT
You can only use ToB on a charge if you are charging into a cube of tiny pixies.  Get your facts straight kiddos.
Flag Jugulator007 May 13, 2012 9:39 PM PDT
Improvised weapon shortbow charging!
Flag Raegoul May 13, 2012 9:41 PM PDT
The shortbow has to be bladed so it Cuts.
Flag zelink551 May 13, 2012 9:57 PM PDT
Does a bladed shortbow work with ToB, or do you need a more badass weapon?
Flag mellored May 13, 2012 9:57 PM PDT
I wonder if this can compete with my charging wizard...
Flag zelink551 May 13, 2012 10:16 PM PDT
You can charge with ToB all day, as its a daily. So CLEARLY it wins against a wizard!
Flag Raegoul May 13, 2012 11:51 PM PDT
I think Sleep with Hellsworn Blessing would give ToB some real competition when charging.
Flag Nirafelos May 14, 2012 12:27 PM PDT
I'm really annoyed by the realization that I know what ToB stands for.

Acronyms should be restricted to powers worth taking

Thicket of Blades.  The fact that this power isn't gold in your mind depresses me.

Now and forever, amen.

I do love that ToB is where the REAL Thicket of Blades comes from. And that stance was build-definingly awesome. How the mighty have fallen.
