My 8th level players have just stepped into the faewild for a handful of encounters and I'm toying with the idea of allowing them all an innate ability to alter fate using thier own lifeforce.
I was thinking something along the lines of a no action healing surge expenditure to enable a reroll. But does that have enough fae-flavor? Is it powerful enough?
I'm not overly worried about balance - I want to keep it reasonable but they're not likely to abuse anything.
What do you think? Any other ideas?

How about just changing what Second Wind looks like? Instead of catching one's breath, it's giving up lifeforce to turn back the clock, turning a terrible wound into a scratch.
