What the hell is so wrong wth that?

I'm curious about that myself.

Still waiting for an answer, it seems.

There is nothing wrong with noob guides.

However, it seems instead of anthing resembling 4e themes like the name would suggest, its just a longer version of the "suggested feats/powers' section in the PHB1 with some fluff.

WoTC used to talk about themes being the "third pillar" in character design alongside race and class.

it also depends on how feats work in 5th.
maybe things that where powers and class abilities before will now also become feats.

I wouldn't mind if class feature packages were smaller, and characters get a feat every level. If it truly is necessary, limit some feats by base class, but in general I'd rather not see the need for a gazillion over-specialized feats like 4e ended up with.

I was hoping for much much more from themes. I'm disappoint.

The last question has me hoping that they won't screw that part up, fortunately. The middle question is meh, I don't really care.

Reflavoring: the change of flavor without changing any mechanical part of the game, no matter how small, in order to fit the mechanics to an otherwise unsupported concept.
Retexturing: the change of flavor (with at most minor mechanical adaptations) in order to effortlessly create support for a concept without inventing anything new.
Houseruling: the change, either minor or major, of the mechanics in order to better reflect a certain aspect of the game, including adapting the rules to fit an otherwise unsupported concept.
Homebrewing: the complete invention of something new that fits within the system in order to reflect an unsupported concept.
