Tiefling pyromancers and genasi evokers make good ranged strikers, despite being 'officially' controllers.

Pyromancer definitely leans more toward striker than controller.  Take implement proficiency with cinder wand and boost damage.  The coolest (brokenest?) thing about pyromancers is that they ignore fire resistance of their targets.  They can do fire damage to hot bubbling magma.

Problem is that at-will and encounters are mostly "all creatures" or "any creatures" rather than just enemies, so your allies are going to take friendly fire at some point.

Retribution Avengers are INT-secondary. Actually, so are Unity Avengers.

Yep, and if you are built right, you can PMC Sorcerer to get a feat which adds STR mod or DEX mod to all arcane damage rolls.

I have a level 12 Genasi Pyromancer PMC Sorcerer who deals +23 fire damage on an arcane damage roll... So, even with Storm Pillar Arcane Admixtured with Fire...

I see what you did there.

Another day, another three or four entries to my Ignore List.

Wouldn't you be better off taking elemental empowerment then PMC?  When you use a wizard power that has the acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder keyword, you add your Strength modifier to damage rolls.  You're getting a very similar benefit, with a much lower feat investment.

Take them both.    That's what I did.
