www.wizards.com/dnd/files/excerpts/dsh_e...Excerpt from the next book for 4e. CON|Cha/Dex, and with feat support! They don't get by with Shifty intact, though - but they did get a rather tasty little racial power to supplement that. Thoughts?

Kobold warlocks are going to rule. Shadow walk will give you concealment and combat advantage against those cursed by the warlock. Add to that the feat that gives +1/2/3 damage to those that the kobold has combat advantage against.

Other way around (extra damage against enemies that have combat advantage against the Kobold).
Don't worry, I made the exact same mistake as well. :p
But yea... to put Shadow Warlock Armor right into a feat like that, on top of the stat spread, could make them fantastic Warlocks. Would have to look more into it, but I'm likin' what I'm seeing there.

If only there was a way to make them a fighter and have them use brash strike a lot.
Edit: As a Con/Cha race they do make perfect warlocks. But I can also see them as elementalists though that feat, combined with the feat that allows multiple cursing, allows them to gain combat advantage quickly. It would be imperative that they have etheral sidestep and an incisive dagger to make easy use of that power though.

Hell, you probably wouldn't even need Brash Strike; most Defenders are going to want enemies surrounding them at all times, and at some point or another they're going to get flanked.

With Con as a base, how about a battlemind. Though the Dragon's Indominability feat is going to rule for defenders. Roll twice vs stun/daze which happen to be two of the worst effects.

I'm so excited about Kobold Warlocks and Kobold BABABABABATTLEMINDS!
They will also still make decent Rogues, Excutioners, Assassins, and Rangers.
They can even be Bards! And Sorcerors!
And Monks!
And ... vampires.
And while I was for keeping Shifty intact, I am quite pleased with the power they've given them. It retains the flavor while not being a problematic abilty.
Part of me would like to see something akin to the Tiefling feats that replace Tiefling's Wrath. Might be because I'm all about Tieflings lately.

...Why do I get the feeling we won't be seeing RWT for picks for them? Kobold barbarian is poking me in the back of the head now...

Welp, looks like I know our group's next houserule. One of our longest-running characters is a kobold, and the loss of Shifty would destroy him. Damn shame that he's not properly legal anymore, not that it'll stop him from sticking around.
Anyway, I guess they're not bad, but I remain unimpressed in the face of the loss of Shifty. That power was nuts.
