Great article with a nice mix of crunch and flavor. What I really like about the EoDS series is how the author focuses on what makes DS so special: the Sorcerer Kings and their near total domination over the world. If the desert world is the backdrop, the Sorcerer Kings are the massive on stage props that the actors have to move around. I love the traps in this article, and especially appreciate the support for paragon tier Dark Sun. This should continue because most 4e DS campaigns that began when 4e DS launched should be well into paragon tier now. I'd like to see more articles (especially and adventure) describing the efforts of the veiled alliance to bring down the sorcerer kings. This would be perfect high paragon tier material.

The current edition is BECMI, the most popular form of Basic D&D and the adventure is the classic Red Box quest to kill Bargle the evil magic user. Check it out, learn about the games roots, and enjoy the story as it unfolds.

Agreed, another fine article.
I did note that the first trap is said to be 10x1 with a spear in each square. However, the standard action defiler stone spears attack just says melee 1 and the trap has an initiative count. That means it just gets one attack per round (including, in theory, against a foe adjacent to the trap's space). It should probably be against one foe in each square of the trap, right? Or, is the main idea really the harpoon so the trick is getting out while a single person is attacked each round?
