So I'm looking for some feedback for a character build I've been experimenting with. It's built off my first-ever character that was a Deva Avenger. I'm working with some of the older materials, but have a little access to the more modern things like themes through a friend of mine.

The campaign we're building for is pretty loose about build, and I'm not trying to fully optimize, since the storyline is the main focus, but I love experimenting with builds and have been working with the Avenger|Druid build.  We are making lv.10 characters, but prepping for lv.11, so pre-picking paragon paths.  We're allowed as many magic items we want with levels adding to 30 or less, and can buy extra items costing up to 4200GP total.  We're very open about pulling from all sorts of campaign settings, since our world is pretty non-descript.

In looking at the build, I wanted to emphasize damage resistance to different types of damage, since that's been a focus of the character all along. In addition, I wanted a high to-hit and damage (who doesn't), and then picked a couple of things for mobility.  This will be played in conjuction with a Rogue, Paladin, and Bard, (two of which are running about a 28 AC with shield bonus).  I'm going to toss my lv.11 ideas in here, just for feedback on the paragon path (again, mostly chosen for the resistances inherent in it).

Theme: Windlord

FEATS
Level 1: Hybrid Talent
Level 2: Heavenly Heritage
Level 4: Clever Control
Level 6: Unarmored Agility
Level 8: Avenging Resolution
Level 10: Mighty Crusader Expertise
Level 11: Painful Oath

POWERS
Hybrid at-will 1: Bond of Pursuit
Hybrid at-will 1: Swarming Locusts
Hybrid encounter 1: Angelic Alacrity
Theme encounter 1: Windlord Attack Wind Fury Assault
Hybrid daily 1: Fog of Insects
Hybrid utility 2: Ferocious Transformation
Hybrid encounter 3: Flowing Swarm
Hybrid daily 5: Menacing Presence
Hybrid utility 6: Cloaked Steps
Hybrid encounter 7: Peal of Thunder
Hybrid daily 9: Blade of Repulsion
Hybrid utility 10: River of Life

ITEMS
Falchion of Evil Undone +2, Keicha's Amulet (Acid resist)+2, Viper Belt (heroic tier), Catstep Boots (heroic tier), Cloth Armor of Psychic Resistance +1, Floating Lantern (heroic tier), Executioner's Bracers (heroic tier), Magic Holy Symbol +3

In all, at level 11, It emphasizes blasts and bursts on the druid side when allies aren't in the area with about a +16 on Druid implement powers, and it gives me about a +18 to-hit on Avenger weapon attacks. Against Oath of enmity, I do a minimum of 20 damage with the At-Will (max of 22), and an extra 3d6 + 2d4 on crits (giving a minimum extra bonus of 15, max of 26).

This isn't quite as good at lv.10, because I don't yet gain the extra to-hit with the Mighty Crusader, nor the Painful Oath power.

Any feedback, ideas?

Well, the short answer would be no, Avenger|Druid is not a useful combo. More generally, almost every possible Avenger hybrid is terrible, because the Avenger has a crazy number of feat taxes to pay and a very incompatible playstyle with most other classes.

This specific character doesn't do anything useful at all. It has bad control, weak damage (most defenders do more damage than you), and a paragon path that doesn't help with either thing. I'd pretty much just suggest you scrap the concept and start over.

The real meat of the druid class are the beast powers whic means most hybrid options are bad ideas.  There are a few exceptions and those are classes that have attack powers that do not have weapon/implement keywords that tend to enable basic attacks.  For example a bard or warlord could work since they have powers that make you use basic attacks or enhance basic attacks thus you can use them while wild shaped.  Consider if your concept can fit a class like that.

If you are set on an Avenger|Druid, a Sentinel can lend itself well to a Censure of Unity Wall of Fur build. With Fey Beast Tamer, Sentinel, and a mount, you can give yourself a +3 to all damage rolls starting from level 1. Nothing spectacular, but it's something.

Do you mean Censure of Unity, Illeist?

As I recall, Hasdru had a pretty cool hybrid Swarm Druid Retvenger that worked surprisingly well. It didn't really come together until the begining of epic, but I think it was playable up to that point.

Actually, they work out reasonably well with controllers when you have a decent AC - then you're a controller when there are multiple targets and a striker when there are single targets.

Actually, the Avenger/Seeker (PP Ocular Adept) is hot love.

Pick up the Distance Vengeance feat, Superior Crossbow, Crossbow Expertise, and Grounding Shot.

Then choose Seeker RBA type attacks that slow/immobolize (plenty of them) and you'll be constantly knocking bad guys on the ground.

A DWT Ranger or Scout with axes and Headman's Chop will love you all day.

Distant Vengeance has table variation issues. There is a specific vs. specific, which doesn't resolve well in 4e.

i.e. hybrid avengers are expressly limited to melee Avenger powers with Oath. Where regular Avengers' oath simply doesn't work.
