Having actually used it, you're quite wrong about that. It's a nifty trick that makes you more versatile, but one with a substantial opportunity cost. You have to keep up a secondary item, you have to dual-wield, you have to gain the use of wand powers... the comparison is ridiculous.

You don't need to keep up the item if your intended power is low level (like your e11, or the power you Reserve Maneuver'd in place of the e11). Battle Harness (a solid choice anyway) fixes some other problems (maybe with Fast Hands/Quick Stow, maybe not).

Gaining the use of wands is a bit of a hurdle I suppose. Not sure if there are any non-MC options for that. But if you were already going to MC a wand class (or, even better, you're a martial|wand hybrid) then there's very little opportunity cost.

You mean because of the "Force" typo? No, the fact that it deals fire damage means that it automatically gains the fire keyword even if it's not listed. It just also has Force like non-Cosmics still get Fire on Blazing Starfall.

Just realized I was actually looking at a different wand (Master's Wand of Hellish Rebuke, which has identical wording on the power, but its property wouldn't apply to the power).

I am okay with you saying my argument is stupid, or commits the munchkin fallacy, or any other bad thing you want. Particularly if you give a reason/explanation for it.

However, I will ignore any post that calls me stupid, or a munchkin, or what have you. Not because it bothers me; I've just found that people only start name-calling when that's the best argument they have left.

If a level 13 item is a trivial expense, then congratulations, you're a level 16+ warlord, most fights already end before having an extra encounter power is even relevant.

You're really making much ado over little here.

And yes, Master's Wand of Hellish Rebuke doesn't apply to its own useless encounter power. You also can't take a wand to qualify for Quickened Spellcasting. You win some, you lose some. The rules are funny sometimes.

I rather like the Cleric/Warlord Hybrid. Mostly for the mix of Inspire Belligerence combo with Denunciation. Providing a serious increase in both attack and damage for a turn. Best part is it can all be done by level 7, and can be done as an encounter power to boot. There is no better way to set up a daily, and god help the enemy if you have a ranger with blade cascade or a rogue that is good with that sneak attack.

A bard can do that BETTER by level 11 simply by action pointing.

Pretty sure all martial classes (except maybe fighters who aren't built for RoB) have at least one e1 or e3 that's worth keeping for a long time. You get a low-level wand early. If your PP gives you a strong e11, then eventually you upgrade. If not, you Reserve Maneuver for that power and keep the same wand. I admit that it's not quite as powerful as I first thought due to some hurdles I didn't think about (though certain builds do not have those hurdles)... but at the same time, you're overplaying how difficult it is. For any build with wand proficiency, the rest is easily worth it.

Also, QS wouldn't apply to the wand regardless, since it's not a power you know, it's an item power that you have access to at that moment. If you don't want to make that distinction, then this becomes even easier: level 3 wand of whatever + Reserve Maneuver = one more encounter power. If there are any items with martial powers in them, you can use the MP2 martial powerswaps to exchange for class powers. And so on. Which might be the RAW on this, I dunno...but it's not how the game should be played.

Ok. I'm ending this here. I will henceforth report anyone else who continues this. I only see this devolving. If you want to start this elsewhere I'm fine, but its gone on long enough for my liking.

On another note, I want to thank you guys for your assistance a few weeks back with building a Warlord to accompany my wife's new character. I was actually able to convince her that she'd have more fun as a Slayer after all, and we've managed to absolutely raze the battlefield in our last three games. In fact, this has even encouraged the other members of the party to want to respec in order to get in on the goodies, ESPECIALLY the Cleric, who suddenly has a vested interest in actually attacking.

So yeah, thanks for helping me out. Now I just need to prepare myself for the DMs inevitable retaliation....
