I am having to create a level 7 Sorcerer, he is to be a storm sorcerer but has to have a mc feat and mc swap feat. I'm looking at warlock options to start with but am sure there must be a better option. The only other restriction is that I can only use options pre hero books.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you are STR/CHA (or vice versa), you could look at Ardent. I picked up my half-elf Warlock's dillettante power from there. If you can use Martial Power 2, there are Warlord m/c feats that use CHR and open up Utility powers. Somehow I think "I heal you with a lightning bolt" has some fun fluff available - think Jim Carrey comedies.
Best complements I have yet received: Spoiler:
Show
Making it up as I go along: {BRJN} If I was writing the Tome of Lore, I would let Auppenser sleep. But I also would have him dream. In his dreaming he re-activates the innate powers of (some) mortal minds. Or his dreaming changes the nature of reality - currently very malleable thanks to Spellplague &c. Or whatever really cool flavor text and pseudo-science explanation people react positively to. {Lord_Karsus} You know, I like that better than the explanations for the Spellplague.
My plot device: http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/ … #489880509 (The reaction is the next post.)
Prepped ahead of time: I started the thread "1001 Failed Interrogation Results" {ADHadh} These are all good and make sense! I just can't come up with something that's not covered here and is not completely ridiculous.
My characters: Spoiler:
Show
Active Characters: LFR Half-elf StarLock6 Gondolin Nightstar AoA Dwarf Guardian Druid6 Narvik from House Wavir
Character A-building: Neverwinter Dwarven Invoker / Heir of Delzoun / worships Silvanus (!) "Truenamer" - speaks Words of Creation
Concepts I'm kicking around: "Buggy" Wizard - insect flavor on everything Halfling Tempest Fighter - just because nobody else is doing it Shifter Beast-o-phile Druid - for PoL campaign

Utilities are not an option as the character will only be level 7. I do like the healing lightning though so may look at the bard powers

Be a half-elf and take one of the new Skald at-wills and have your MC feat be Master of Stories. The Aura can be activated every encounter, you just can only use the healing portion of it once per day. But you can activate the aura and then use the Skald at-will, which will make things happen for your allies when you hit with a basic attack. Make sure one of the Sorcerer powers you take can be used as a basic attack.

This is what I did with my sorc, and I use the aura often. You get to train in a bard skill as well.

Unfortunately I can not use those rule sources as they are heroes onwards. I can only use selections that are on the last update of the classic character builder

Warlock is actually surprisingly bad as a MC for Sorcerers.
Some options to consider:
Warlord: There are a few options in there that allow you to have allies make attacks and do not require you to make an attack roll. You won't get to take advantage of your sorcerer damage bonus, but you will make your friends happy.
If you want to take advantage of your high Charisma as the attack attribute AND get the sorcerer bonus to damage, you're pretty much stuck with bard and warlock. I think bard is a better choice.
D&D & Boardgames If I have everything I need to run great games for many years without repeating stuff, why do I need to buy anything right now?

Rogue could work, assuming you bought dual-16 and use a dagger.
Get a ranged rogue encounter.
Ahh, so THIS is where I can add a sig.

Remember that warlords also have powers that utilize mbas and the sorc has access to a mba to use those powers.
