A War Ring adds an extra crit die as a property and does this as a daily: Use this power when you score a critical hit with a weapon or implement. Add 2 extra dice of critical hit damage based on the weapon or implement. If your weapon or implement deals no extra damage when you score a critical hit, deal an extra 2d6 damage when you score a critical hit. If you've reached at least one milestone today, instead of rolling the extra dice of critical hit damage, deal extra damage equal to the maximum value of those dice. It seems like normally you'd roll 2d12 extra damage when you crit, along with the 3d12 the Vicious Weapon +3 normally grants. However, once you hit a milestone, the two bonus dice are automatically maxed to 24, and you'd just roll the normal crit dice.
Only the war ring part gets maximized, the weapon's regular critical dice do not.
As I understand it, if a PC has a +3 vicious weapon wearing a War ring crits, the following would happen:
Scenario 1 - Crit but not use daily power Maximized Normal damage + 4d12 crit damage (due to war ring property) Scenario 2 - Crit and use daily power without achieving a milestone Maximized Normal damage + 6d12 crit damage (due to war ring property and daily property) Scenario 3 - Crit and use daily power after achieving a milestone Maximized Normal damage + 24 (extra dice is maxed) + 4d12 crit damage (due to war ring property and daily property)
