kotaku.com/5896996/the-next-playstation-...Now, I never buy used games because many people don't know how ot handle them as carefully as I do. I've seen too many scratched discs. Plus, the price difference between a new game and a used one at one particular retailer is three bucks. Really. Having said that, I don't like the idea of anti-used games software. What if it fails? What if it won't play my brand new game, claiming it's "used"? What if I delete it off the hard drive, and don't play it for 6 months? Will it then be called "used" even though I'm the original purchaser?

Of the two approaches to hobby games today, one is best defined as the realism-simulation school and the other as the game school. AD&D is assuredly an adherent of the latter school. It does not stress any realism (in the author's opinon an absurd effort at best considering the topic!).
It does little to attempt to simulate anything either. (AD&D) is first and foremost a game for the fun and enjoyment of those who seek the use of imagination and creativity....
In all cases, however, the reader should understand that AD&D is designed to be an amusing and diverting pastime, something which an fill a few hours or consume endless days, as the participants desire, but in no case something to be taken too seriously.
For fun, excitement and captivating fantasy, AD&D is unsurpassed. As a realistic simulation of things from the realm of make-believe or even as a reflection of midieval or ancient warfare or culture or society, it can be deemed only a dismal failure. Readers who seek the later must search elsewhere. - Gary Gygax. 1e DMG.

Im a stickler for taking care of discs as well, im always having to beat kids cause they leave games out, most of the times theyll leave the game out right next to its case, i mean cmon how lazy can you be? the case is right freakin there, sometimes i think they just like getting beat.
But any way i do still buy used games from time to time, find some pretty good deals, recently picked up the clone wars for like 10 bucks, its a decent game, and makes a pretty fun multi player gaming expierence, so yeah this news sucks, and i was looking foward to the Playstation 4. And the thing that gets me, other than the having to pay again for used games, is that the way the article reads each game will be keyed to a particular user on the console, not the console it self, so im expectin to pay 60+ dollars for a game and then have to turn around and buy the game again for each user? thats ridiculous!! I cant see too many people being happy with that, i dont see that particular feature lasting, or if it does, i cant see the playstation 4 lasting. And xbox, from the sound of it is going the same route, screw that man, so i guess im just going to say screw the next gen consoles, and just listen to all my friends and stick with pc gaming from now on.
I survived Section 4 and all I got was this lousy sig
Off-topic and going downhill from there

Yeah. I'm not going next gen if I can't buy used games.
You can get some really good deals that way.
Oh here's another kicker about this idea.. no more borrowing your friends games. Also what the hell is this going to do the rental industry?
Furthermore I have an easier way to gaurantee more game sales without screwing and angering your customers. Stop releasing everything at Christmas the market for games at the holidays is well beyond being over saturated. The first batman title proved (and a few others) that summer releases can sell just as strongly.

This. I still haven't bothered to get a PS3, in large part because it wasn't backwards-compatible. This will just push me farther away.

I'm finally getting around to picking up a used PS3 this weekend, mostly because it plays dvds/blu-rays and the dvd player down here in my basement has issues with the door not always opening when I hit the button... I'm not a gamer at all - I've got way too many other hobbies, and mainly throw in a game once or twice a month when I'm bored and feel like screwing around for an hour or two. The one I'm getting isn't backward-compatable, but I decided to go with it anyway because I can also pick up a used PS2 for like $30 at the same Game Stop... I'm just going to go pick up a splitter at Radio Shack so I can hook them both up.
I only ever buy used games - in the entire time since the Playstation came out, I can probably count on one hand the number of new games I've bought... If the PS4 isn't backward compatable with my big old stack of PS2 games, there's absolutely no point to me buying one at all.

I bought the backwards compatible version and paid to get it fixed when it broke.

Right now it sounds like there is no reason for me to bother with a next gen system.
