26 hp on a lvl 1 fighter defender who is more dmg orientated.
good or bad?
the race of the fighter is deva.
the team does have a healing focused cleric though

That's a little low; I want at least 28 HP on a L1 defender, and 30+ is common. Have you considered any race/class combinations that are a better mechanical fit? Deva make strong Swordmages and Paladins, and would even do better as a Battlemind than as a Fighter. Any race that boosts Str or any race that boosts two of Dex, Con, and Wis would make a better Fighter.

Since you want to be more damage oriented, I think you should choose another race. A damage oriented fighter will lack defenses, as a twohanded weapon means -2 AC and REF for not using a shield. And less defenses coupled with quite little HP can be detrimental to your fun playing the character.
For a character that has CON only as tertiary stat and no reason to boost it for Fortitude defense, "building it right" can be quite tough. You could either take a background for hitpoints, the aforementioned Auspicious Birth or take Toughness as a feat as early as you can.

Ideal is a bit strong, maybe default? Golaith, warforged, minotaur, and mul can all take the same ability boosts and have racial feats and powers that are very defendery. Heck a human is always a great choice simply because of the NAD extra at will and extra feat.
