if it was no bluff, then why make a bluff check?
if you believe it to be so, then simply tell that to the wizard, let him use his in-character perceptions of your character to decide his course of action.
If some random shady looking guy came up to me in the streets and offered to sell me a rolex for a mere $50, i'm probably going to use what i know to not believe him
Or a better example, more in line with the situation being someone you know, but also someone you know doesn't know one little bit about what he's talking about. If my brother, who is an effective and efficient carpenter, tries to tell me some info about putting in a door frame, you can bet i'll believe him. If he tells me that it makes sense to him that eating a bee is a good way to stop the swelling for a beesting....well, i'll use my common sense, plus my knowledge that my brother doesn't know crap about medicine or biology to politely disregard what he's saying.
Honestly, if thats the type of game you were playing, where logic and reason just go out the window and the most outrageous ideas are the ones that get the most spectacular results, then good for you. I'll admit its not for me, but my real question is, if thats the type of off-the wall game you're playing, why would the DM bother posting to ask what would make SENSE as a result for this totally nonsensical sequence of events?

Have to go 100% with tubaman here but as long as you have fun with it so be it, our games we dont do pvp or screwing each other over but I do allow bluff checks for humor, like one player (the fighter go figure) keeps count of his kills, and our other player (rogue) likes to claim the kills, if she hits the foe in same round but after him she says "Can I do bluff check to make him think I got the actual killing hit" we all thought it was freaken funny so we ok it. Course we almost feel bad because a rogue with high cha vs. a fighter with average wis is like have a punching contest with mike tyson but even the fighter finds it funny. In another game a while back we had a char with alot of knowledge skills but rather low points in each one, when he failed checks he would try to bluff his way through like he knew what he was talking about, but again was in good humor so we allowed it.
In short if its for some laughs just have him sick for 1-2 days and move on but dont let bluff checks dominate a chars actions.

eh what happens happens. but to be fair the wizard was drunk. for being drunk his hit went down two and power up two for attacks. his int wis and dex skills are down by two while strength con and cha went up two for skills. he didn't make any checks on his own to ask if he knew otherwise he just did what he did. i had fun making a list of 20 things that can happen. both good and bad. like one is while the poison is in his system it effects his magic a little. in this case a nat one makes his magic blast in his square and knock him prone instead of a blatent miss. one is a disease that well basically he will be vomiting and generally unlikely to have his friends approach him until after much like some people are when overly drunk. the good is a permanent resist five poison and a permanent poison dragons breath that does a straight 1d2 damage. i know that is weak but i wont give him anything to powerful for doing something like that. oh and tuba i do agree with your logic but most people dont think quite as logically when drunk. just a bit of what i have found to be true for people.

well if anyone cares his dice decreed that he gained a five poison resist to his character and the party decided to pay a jail to lock him up until he sobers up so he wont cause mayhem. his fault for doing something to get arrested and his party just paid to keep him there a few days.

I'm glad the group found a non-abusive way to finish with that.
Out-of-game: NEVER let your players read anything from The Darwin Awards. Too many Award-winners' stories begin with "We were really drunk at the time..." You might end up having to nominate one of your table's characters.
P.S. My Ashes of Athas character helped win a fight against a poisonous monster, but botched the Nature check to convert it into trail rations. So now he's got a bunch of 'fugu jerky'. Wanna try a bite?
Best complements I have yet received: Spoiler:
Show
Making it up as I go along: {BRJN} If I was writing the Tome of Lore, I would let Auppenser sleep. But I also would have him dream. In his dreaming he re-activates the innate powers of (some) mortal minds. Or his dreaming changes the nature of reality - currently very malleable thanks to Spellplague &c. Or whatever really cool flavor text and pseudo-science explanation people react positively to. {Lord_Karsus} You know, I like that better than the explanations for the Spellplague.
My plot device: http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/ … #489880509 (The reaction is the next post.)
Prepped ahead of time: I started the thread "1001 Failed Interrogation Results" {ADHadh} These are all good and make sense! I just can't come up with something that's not covered here and is not completely ridiculous.
My characters: Spoiler:
Show
Active Characters: LFR Half-elf StarLock6 Gondolin Nightstar AoA Dwarf Guardian Druid6 Narvik from House Wavir
Character A-building: Neverwinter Dwarven Invoker / Heir of Delzoun / worships Silvanus (!) "Truenamer" - speaks Words of Creation
Concepts I'm kicking around: "Buggy" Wizard - insect flavor on everything Halfling Tempest Fighter - just because nobody else is doing it Shifter Beast-o-phile Druid - for PoL campaign
