Thanks. I went through all of the adventures and setting articles, and made a few decisions where I had to make things fit together. It's reasonably close to canon, but in some places I just had to make an executive decision.

I took existing Forgotten Realms calendar and used it to create our own blend. The current date is based on Nerathi Reckoning, as it was the last Empire, but some hold over naming continues from other times. As for the current year, I chose a nice round number (420) so as to make it easier for my players to relate recent events without doing too much head-math, yet close enough to the century mark so events older than their characters felt older by dint of being in the 300's rather than 400's.
Really, 420 is the start of your world Nuke. Man, I knew your campaign would be interesting. But not like that.
Well that does explain the the strange creatures the players are.
On topic, our last DM kept it simple and used the current months, January, and so on. This made it easy for us to remember the dates, and used the current 2010 to start. Just to ease the timeline.
He did have some history he created through our character backgrounds to add to the history of the Nentir Vale.

Yeah, revenant, minotaur, hamadryad, hobgoblin, and half-orc.
420 works for that. ;p
Seriously, until you pointed that out, I never realized the year connotation. o.O

I miss that campaign ... and the DM and players. /sigh
