Given the coolness of their pantheon, I can think of far worse fates... Garl FTW!

Added to the original post:
The Lords of Waterdeep boardgame appears to be set in the pre-spellplague setting. It uses the old Waterdeep lords instead of the new ones.

Thanks for the tip. The Cormyr Royale article provides support for both pre or post-spellplague. I've added this information to the initial post. However, the author's subsequent Cormyr article seems intended for post-spellplague.

Nothing's better for exercising one's shoulder than a round of gnome-tossing.

Nobles in Waterdeep do it all the time. Big bowls filled with wine and an agreeable gnome or two (clothing optional for the gnomes—or I might have just made that up; memory isn't what it used to be).

The Forgotten Realms: It's an ugly baby, but damnit it's our ugly baby.

WotC, please don't wreck the Forgotten Realms a third time in order to introduce the latest version of the D&D rules.

Give us back 3rd Edition's Magic Television concept instead.

Seconded. :D

More sex and gender equality and racial equality shouldn't even be an argument--it should simply be an assumption for any RPG that wants to stay relevant in the 21st century.

I could say anything in D&D is silly though, because it's a silly game and we are silly people.

Not so.

I wrote Swords of State specifically to be era-neutral. Other than a line or two about who can pick up one of theswords without the War Wizards bringing the hammer down on them, there's nothing about the article that suggests a specific time period for use; the information is just as valid (and, I hope, useful) in 1357 as it is in 1479.

I want to see more stories on the Transformed Drow in the near future for RP purposes.  More Sharrans they are not about brute strength.
