It has been my understanding that Silverlight will still have a home in Windows as one of the design tools for Win apps. I think it will remain around for a while, particularly if they are still developing and evolving WPF, which from every indication that I have seen, they have no plans of discontinuing.
Reflavoring: the change of flavor without changing any mechanical part of the game, no matter how small, in order to fit the mechanics to an otherwise unsupported concept. Retexturing: the change of flavor (with at most minor mechanical adaptations) in order to effortlessly create support for a concept without inventing anything new. Houseruling: the change, either minor or major, of the mechanics in order to better reflect a certain aspect of the game, including adapting the rules to fit an otherwise unsupported concept. Homebrewing: the complete invention of something new that fits within the system in order to reflect an unsupported concept.
Default module =/= Core mechanic.

whats wrong with Silverlight? It is a great development environment. and it is supported on windows phone 7. Very few technologies would be "supported" by all phone/tablet types. Even Java won't work on my iPhone/iPad and Flash isn't supported on the iPhone's browser either. So they would have to develop a version specific to apple's devices as an app, which then wouldn't be usable by your Android, or Blackberry either. Those too would require a different development tool. A developer is boned no matter how you look at it when it comes to cross-platform development and hand helds (smart phones/tablets)

It doesn't work in linux. Nor does it work in the opensource version (moonlight).
