There is a link on that page for SL 4, click it and you'll get your choice of PC or Mac.

Great idea. Slight problem. I tried uninstalling every facet of SL5, no Microsoft anything on my computer. I download the SL4 install package, and I can't install it, because my computer thinks there's still a newer version of SL5 on my computer.

I can find anything Silverlight or Microsoft related on my machine. Even in my hidden files. But yeah, can't install SL4. Computer thinks there's a newer version of SL hiding in my system somewhere.

Try rebooting after you uninstall.  Sometimes some of that registry data is stored/loaded in memory and doesn't clear without rebooting.

Experiencing the same problem here, on both my laptop and stationary computer. Neither Firefox nor Chrome. My .NET framework is seemingly up to date, wich leaves only Silverlight.. Been trying to scourge both systems from all SL5 content and restarting, but even installing from the SL4 exe file doesn't fix the issue. :/

Color me confused and annoyed.

Odd, for me, I had just reformated and also updated everything I could.  That means I am pretty sure I had .net fully up to date.  Had the issue with SL5, uninstalled and reinstalled SL4 (yes, it's on the page) and it worked fine.  SOO, I didn't change my .NET at all between not working with SL5 and working with SL4.  I am not sure about those having troubles with SL4, it fixed my problem.

I figured out what my problem was, I never actually received the SL4 exe file, but the SL5 file instead.

Using the link to the previous version on silverlight.net/download redirected me to the "default" SL5 download page because whatever browser used on my PC got listed as unsupported for some reason.

My solution was having a friend of mine download it for me and send it to me, but it works fine now!

This is ridiculous. I really hope WotC is aware of the issue and issues a hot fix for this problem ASAP. We shouldn't have to install an old version of silverlight just so we can use this software.

Just when they finally get the MB to a point that I'm happy with.....  grrrr.....

The current edition is BECMI, the most popular form of Basic D&D and the adventure is the classic Red Box quest to kill Bargle the evil magic user. Check it out, learn about the games roots, and enjoy the story as it unfolds.

I have this problem too.

I have a macbook pro running OSX 10.6. I tried to uninstall Silverlight 5 and reinstall Silverlight 4. The Silverlight 4 installer told me I still had Silverlight 5 on the machine, even though I had very thuroughly removed all of the Silverlight files.

This problem is very frustrating and pretty much makes the monster builder useless.

I agree, it's making me crazy. The MB is one of the main reasons why I subscribe. If they can't fix this, I might unsub.

I got an email from customer service regarding my complaint and they confirmed that the issue is the version of Silverlight. Their solution was to do a complete uninstall of Silverlight and then start over with a new install of the older version.

The problem I have with this is that some other web apps I use require the newest version of Silverlight. So am I supposed to maintain two machines, one with the new version and one with the old? This is ridiculous.

Hopefully this issue is resolved with the next update.

For those of you struggling like I was to find Silverlight 4, here's a working direct download.

go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=185927

While I'm happy they made the online Monster Builder useful again, bugs like this make me frustrated to no end. Thank you guys for figuring out what the problem is. I would be screwed this week without the MB, considering I just reinstalled windows and now just learned that the standalone MB is officially impossible to get working from a fresh install.
