I recently became interested in a a build based off of Iron Man. The few game concepts that I've considered so far:
1) He should be in plate mail 2) He should have a decent RBA, based off his repulsor beams (force or radiant) 3) He should have a decent MBA, based off the strength of the suit 4) He should be able to fly
Based off of this, I think the Warlock class is almost a perfect fit. If he is a Starlock, that should give him plenty of Radiant ranged attacks, and I can take Eldritch Strike for his MBA.
The only issues I see are: Warlocks are made to stay in leather, and I'd prefer him to be in plate mail; I can't find an easy way to give him flight, as the Zephyr Boots require light/no armor.
Anyone see a way to make this concept work? Perhaps a completely different angle?

Setting: Tomb with a perilous bridge and cliff 100 feet above a lava pit.
Mummy pops out of his sarcophagus, initiative:
Felix, Half-Elf Artificer: Twin Strike with crossbow.
Trump (ala Donald), Eladrin Warlord: Charges mummy with Opening Shove, pushing off the cliff. Mummy fails saving throw, and falls into pit.
Sanshiro (ala Japanese "superhero" Segata), Minotaur Barbarian: Strength check to lift sarcophagus and carry to cliff. Free action, drop sarcophagus into square above mummy. Sarcophagus drops on mummy, shoving him further down into lava.
Mummy: proceeds to make a series of horrible athletics checks to swim and climb cliff. Dies a horrible death with lava permeating every orifice.
Entire Party: Watches on in delight, faces alit with the glow of lava and flaming undead.

Well, if you also want to be Tony Stark outside of combat, you need to have insane Int. And ranged force powers imply psion. Good ways to obtain at-will flight in plate mail that I know of: - Windsoul Genasi + Desert's Voice paragon path - Soaring Rake paragon path ( Dragon 406) - A bunch of Winged Boots - Broom of Flying Are you opposed to reflavoring your armor?

Warforged (reskinned as a guy in a suit) Warlock. Int/Con, you already have the armor, can get socketed items, and can have good ranged and melee attacks. Don't even need the Plate Mail.

Hybrid Paladin would be an easy way to get the armor prof., but does a Warlock still function fine in Plate Mail?
Yeah, I've kinda given up on the possibility of all his stats being "correct". He'd have to have a high Int/Cha for Tony Stark and then also a high Str while in the suit. Cha would probably be the easiest to give up flavor-wise (he was able to swoon some people, but came off as abrasive to other people, so it sort of evened out), but if he is a Warlock, he has to be either Cha/Int or Con/Int or Cha/Con/Int, which starts stretching the viability of the build.
As for the options of flight, the most attractive option is the Soaring Rake, I think, but I'd rather have the Caiphon PP if I'm still going Warlock.
EDIT: What did you have in mind as far as reflavoring the armor?

Yeah, Warforged should work fine in place of platemail, and you can have a shoulder cannon and other embedded items.
I also don't see why he needs an RBA unless you're wanting to pair him with an RBA granter - a ranged at-will is conceptually identical otherwise. I suppose I'd go with the warlock idea. The curse mechanic could be some sort of targeting mechanism, but I'm not sure how the boons could be flavored.

Oh, just your earlier remark with regard to not being able to fly in plate mail. The Avenger's Favored Soul fly speed only works in light armor, so I'd be curious if you were willing to reflavor leather/hide -> plate. But if you're set on Warlock (and the Caiphon PP), it's not very relevant. EDIT: you don't need Str while in the armor. Eldritch Strike your melee attack, and there are plenty of paladin powers that have Cha as attack stat. Makes sense too flavorwise: Stark isn't strong, so should have a lower Str score.

You could just use a Hat of Disguise - then you're wearing Hide Armor+Heavy Shield which 'transforms' into Plate+Heavy Shield.
One thing to consider is whether or not it is really 'Plate' - if you're okay with Scale Armor, I think Cleric with Battle Cleric's Lore|X can work in a variety of different ways, where X is an Int or Wis-based class.
