From twitter it was observed by Greg Bisland that they have enough adventures to see them through into 2013. I take this to mean getting an adventure pitch accepted is going to be very hard so focus on side treks and other Dungeon content.
Wow, this is kinda depressing. Adventure design is one area I know I'm good at and it really sucks to think I won't even get looked at until 2013. At least they're being honest about it, although I'd like to see this in an official statement from Chris Perkins or Greg Bilsland.
In fact, I'd like to see an official list of what is being taken off the table so we don't waste our time. For example, it's clear that they don't want Runepriest support. It would be nice for them to let us know that up front. Maybe they could sticky a forum post where the list things they *don't* want. I know that I've already started writing proposals for the next submission window and I don't want to put work into anything that won't even be considered.
Want to know more about the history of D&D, especially how to play older editions of the game? Check out Crazy Monkey's "Tour through the editions":

The current edition is BECMI, the most popular form of Basic D&D and the adventure is the classic Red Box quest to kill Bargle the evil magic user. Check it out, learn about the games roots, and enjoy the story as it unfolds.

That's kind of my purpose in maintaining this thread. Hope it's helping.

The sad thing is, that it really is looking like the open submission periods are more or less a publicity stunt. I can't actually see a single are of centent they actually ARE interested in... No 'Eye on...' No Bazaar of the Bizarre. No complicated UA No Bestiaries No Tavern profiles No articles changing roles for current classes No new classes No Runepriest support No niche stuff (including, for instance, Hunter builds) No flavourless crunch, BUT, setting-independent stuff preferable. So, no flavourless crunch, but keep the flavour as generic as possible. No more PoLand/Nerath stuff, but no 'Eye on' stuff either. Full up on adventures until 2013 No item sets No Warlock pacts No Faustian bargains in general No Abyssal Plague I haven't seen them say a single thing they actually DO want yet. Other, apparently, than to waste a whole bunch of peoples' valuable time both writing and rejecting submissions. Reading between the lines, you might just get away with Seeker support, and with new seasons for the Sentinel - but noth of those will have been proposed to death already. And themes.

I'm not going to go into details, but I submitted around 25 pitches during the open submission window. Of those 25, 3 were green-lighted for first draft, and another couple went through a pitch revision or two before being ultimately rejected. From that experience, I can tell you that a number of the things on that list (tavern profiles, bestiaries, adventures) are ideas that they were very interested in, and they got enough good ideas that they don't have the space for more. I wouldn't call it a publicity stunt at all - I'd call it a wildly successful effort to attract outside perspectives on content that filled many of their needs entirely.

for those still subscribed to this thread that didn't see it on Thursday/Friday, the writer's guidelines got a bit of an overhaul. A summary of relevant changes that caught my eye:
- Suggested word count limit on article pitches is now 150, instead of 250. Similarly, word count limit on adventure pitches is now 300 instead of 500
- Detailed feedback on each pitch is no longer promised. (Although a specific up/down response is still promised for each pitch)
- Detailed updates to the sections about what they're NOT looking for, along with what they ARE looking for. Rather than copy/paste, I'll suggest reading these over carefully and leave it at that.
