Hi, just a couple quick questions regarding symbols and attacking. 1. If I take versatile expertise and name mace and holy symbol, can I then have a magic weapon (with it's own properties) and then imbue it with a holy symbols properties as well?
2. When attacking with an implement power, you use whatever ability it says, and then add half your level, and if it's a magic symbol then add whatever the enhancement is. So lets say its a lvl 6 character with a +1 magic symbol. That only adds +4 to the ability score to the D20 roll right? Or am I missing something to add to the attack rolls? That seems a little low considering some characters get ability + 1/2 lvl + proficiency bonus + magic enhancements (if applicable) My character is only getting the ability + 1/2 lvl + magic enhancements. Is there no proficiency bonus or something?
Thanks

1. No, though there are some weapons that have the property that they also serve as holy symbols. 2. There is no proficiency bonus for implements, however implements generally attack secondary defenses (Fort, Ref, Will) which are usually lower than AC.
Another day, another three or four entries to my Ignore List.

Versatile Expertise only gives you a bonus to attack rolls with those two items. That's all it does. It doesn't allow you to use a weapon as an implement or an implement as a weapon unless you have an item that already specifically allows you to do so (such as the weapons that Salla mentioned that have properties that allow you to use them as holy symbols or the rod implement that allows you to use it as a mace) or a class feature that lets you use a specific weapon type as an implement like the swordmage...
In any event, you can only have a single enchantment on a magic item (and each enchantment specifies which items it can be applied to), so you couldn't put both a weapon enchantment and an implement enchantment on the same item. You'd need to take one of the weapon enchantments that have the property of specifically allowing their use as a holy symbol if you want to use that weapon for implement attacks.
