There are playgroups that say, "only use stuff from these sources," where a superior feat may not exist.
This is precisely the reason why the online CB desperately needs to have a campaign filter whereby the user can specify what sources he wants to use/exclude when choosing options. It makes me CrAzY that this hasn't been implemented yet.
+1 I need this feature for my LFR characters!
Seeing as how the LFR community is so big and probably makes up a huge chunk of paying DDI subscribers it absolutely mystifies me why WotC doesn't have a LFR mode built into the CB that would only show the currently legal LFR options.
It's amazing how many newer LFR players use the CB, and think that simply choosing the Forgotten Realms campaign setting is the same as creating a legal LFR character.

You've answered your own question.
WotC has been actively trying to distance itself from LFR for a while now. The cynic in me says they want to to die so they can replace it with something more profitable.

That would be very foolish for WotC from a business perspective. I'd be willing to bet that people who play LFR make up a substantial percentage of not only those who pay for DDI but also buy 4th edition products. To allow that group to do die now would only turn away more of their customer base. Never mind that fact that WotC claims it wants to bring all D&D players back into the fold, 5th edition products are at least a year a way and driving this group away would hurt their 2012 profits.
I really don't think WotC wants LFR to die. Think about it, this volunteer run community is doing the heavy lifting of writing and supporting a "living" campaign world that promotes D&D's flagship product. WotC gets all of the publicity and paying customers without having to pay anybody anything. This is a huge win-win for them. The thing that I really don't understand is why WotC hasn't played up LFR more than they have.
No, I see it as a situation where the digital design team is probably busy working on other products, like the tools for 5e.

The current edition is BECMI, the most popular form of Basic D&D and the adventure is the classic Red Box quest to kill Bargle the evil magic user. Check it out, learn about the games roots, and enjoy the story as it unfolds.

I doubt that very much since the Wizards have announced that the Forgotten Realms will be supported from the outset by the Fifth Edition. What better way to support it than with the Living Forgotten Realms?

I think that's just the artwork, and I think there's more to this than they're letting on. My guess is some sort of 3D virtual table and they've hired a Chinese company to handle the graphics side of things.
