Let's say I've got a fighter standing in middle of a swarm of ravens (or bats if you don't have Tome of Magic).  A ranger standing outside the swarm shoots an arrow at the fighter.  Does the fighter enjoy no cover, (normal) cover, improved cover, or total cover relative to the ranger?  What about concealment?

Technically, I think this would be soft cover (so it provides a normal cover to AC bonus, but not cover versus area attacks).

As a DM, I'd be fine calling it cover and concealment if I was in a non-competitive environment (for the Core Coliseum, which is a competitive tactical arena, I would have to stick with the technical).
