The first pic is a character built around agility not tanking so the idea of dodging blows is important to that character concept. So wearing something that hindered mobility would be dumb. 

Also impractical armor and inpenetrable abs is the general theme for all fantasy characters ever (for the most part).

Kat is a decent character that most people think is supposed to be built as a melee assassin, but does much better as a mage.

Hindering mobility? You mean like really long hair that'll block your vision, spikes on your armor that it'll get stuck on and a really high collar that'll prevent you from looking over your shoulder?

She's a diablo barbarian. Impractical armor is a cultural necessisty.



If you wear too much armor, you won't get enough cool battle scars. And once you already have the battle scars, how can you show them off through all that armor?

All armor is for cowards. Real warriors deflect blades with their skull.
