So I have been working on a homebrew Hyrdomancer controller for a friend, I have no problem pounding out mechanics for powers and so forth, the trouble I have, is actually coming up with the actual powers.
For example a wizards fireball, the actual throwing of a fireball. I'm having trouble coming up with all the things a hydromancer should be able to do. If you guys can help me come up with the fluff, flavor or names, I can pound out the mechanics myself. It would be a great help to me. For sake of ease ill list what I have already.
At will:
Water Orb: Sends a compressed orb of water at the enemy Water blast: Spins in place sending water in a close burst pushing enemys away. Hail of bullets: Pelts enemys in a blast with water droplets at high speeds. Downpour: Explodes a large amount of water from above raining it down. Erupting Fountain: Sends water gushing upward from beneath an enemy Liquid Chains: Wraps compressed streams of water around an enemy.
Encounter:
Tidal Wave: Sends a tidal wave barreling at at enemys. Tidal Charge: Charges wrapped in the force of a tidal wave. Encase: Encases an enemys head in a sphere or water. Torrenting water: Sends a powerful torrent fo water at an enemy (think Riot hose) Boiling Pool: Erupts boiling hot water from the ground.
Daily:
Form of water: Takes on a liquid form Summon water elemental: Self explanatory. Parasitic waters: Covers an enemy in water that crawls around it like insects. Tidal Whip: Uses a whip of compressed water to drag a foe.
Utilty:
Comforting aura: Makes a relaxing mist waft off of you. Ride the waters: You ride a tidal wave a number of squares. Wall of water: You conjure a wall of water Protecting spheres: You conjure 3 spheres of water that spiral around you or an ally, protecting them

comes to mind
mist (area obscurity) dehydratation (ongoing damage) make difficult terrain wrap water around enemy and crush (think Naruto's Gaara but with water instead of sand) counter fire/lighting/poison/... ranged/area attacks Turn to water (phasing)

For years, I've lived a double life. In the day, I do my job - I ride the bus, roll up my sleeves with the hoi-polloi. But at night, I live a life of exhilaration, of missed heartbeats and adrenalin. And, if the truth be known a life of dubious virtue. I won't deny it - I've been engaged in violence, even indulged in it. I've maimed and killed adversaries, and not merely in self-defence. I've exhibited disregard for life, limb and property, and savoured every moment. You may not think it, to look of me but I have commanded armies, and conquered worlds. And though in achieving these things I've set morality aside, I have no regrets. For though I've led a double life, at least I can say - I've lived.

I haven't untill now, and I have to say, that those are some of the best homebrewed classes I have ever seen. I was actually working on 4 classes one based on each element just like that, only got started on the Hydromancer at the moment, and man I don't think there is anyway I can top yours.
My group all were huge avatar fans, i'm almost tempted to run an Avatar campaign and use those, they would love it.

Usagi, Ekio, myself and couple of other homebrewers are working on the updated version. A lot of new stuff and some fixes that are abseloutely essential. I recommend you help us finish the new book and start a Avatar campaign as soon as it comes out. Your friends are going to love it, guaranteed. I recommend you make a "behind the scenes" type adventure where you are constantly almost crossing paths with the avatar and always helping him out even though he never actually finds out. This means you can follow the series pretty accurately without ever having to change their story. Think of it like Teemon and Pumbaa in Lion King 3, or the Brown Wizard in LOTR ^^
