I would link to a Gwar song in response but it would get me banninated. Suffice it to say, it's title is 'BDF'. I'll let you guess what those letters stand for.

So I'm taking a graduate stats class in the fall. I went to the school bookstore to find out what book I need for the class and how much it is going to cost me.. Used, $145.00; New $200.00. So I went and looked for the book online to see for how much I could find it. I got a brand new, international edition for $7.80.

International? Sounds unamerican.
Probably Chinese. I always try to get the international editions. They are the same as the U.S. editons without the U.S. price. I once bought 6 copies of a book for a psychology class between $0.33 to $0.89 each plus $6.00 (for all together). I used one copy and sold the rest for $40.00 each. The book was about $80.00 at the school bookstore. Maybe I should have bought a few more copies of the stats book I just bought. I could sell them for $100.00 each to the students in my class.

As a general reminder to myself and to some of the folks in here the next NFL season will be starting up soon. Ill need to see up getting it ready ahead of time.
I'm in!...can't believe pre-season starts next week.
Note to self: stop picking my own team to win.

Last year was tough for me cuz i had to get into the groove of picking me teem. Something that wouldn't have worked out the ten years previous.
Yeah, I had a problem picking for the Bengals and against the Eagles cuz of that sort of thing. Messed up year. And that's what makes football awesome. Aside from a few things, you don't know what's really possible.

No, that was before I became the Hollywood babysitter making mega-bucks and sporting gansta bling. This happened when I was working on my undergrad degree.

Video-game-related question - picked up an old game for the PS3 called Two Worlds 2... Anybody played it or know anything about it? Grabbed it used (and on sale) cuz I was bored and the back of the case looked interesting, lol. Had it for a month now and still haven't gotten around to playing it at all... Shows how often I actually find the time and desire to play video games, what with all my 300,000 other hobbies competing for my time.

So Dustin and I are still playtesting that game for Victory Point Games. The designer is going to send us an updated set of rules, but he really needs to work on the combat system. Dustin and I may even video our next session, focusing and detailing the combat so I can better describe and point out things we believe can be done better or a different way. I really kinda tore the combat system apart in my last report to the desinger, and he asked for details and clarifications about things I was trying to communicate to him via e-mail (and some of you know how bad I am at communicating on this internetz thing...), but I haven't got back to him yet. Been out of town 10 of the last 14 days working...
*shrug*
Also, I gave all my D20 Modern crap to my 14 year old, he seems to enjoy it much more than I do...

Actually, neither was she. If you are good with a girl getting punched in the face because she was labeled a commie, you can do the same with your son. He likes to play war games, right? Just think of him as Stalin or Hitler and punch away.
A side benefit is that he will listen to yu and do every single thing you tell him to. That'll be $150.00.

Lots of dads think this about their sons, but then they discover that their sons were reading strange books and using strange words. Just experimentation, right? Teens do that, right? Well turns out lots of these kids really have empathy and always were attracted to these values.

Because a bit more progress was made towards full understanding of a neigboring planetary body with some very interesting possibilities. While the successful landing by itself is less significant than the data that we will recieve, it is difficult to collect data when the rover's parts are strewn across the Martian desert. Besides, how often do we land observational equipment on other planets?

If the universe did indeed start, whether with a bang or a word, then there is only a finite amount of time that has passed since that point. However, unless the universe somehow reverse's it's momentum and collapses back in on itself then it will continue to expand, and thus exist, for all eternity.
Thus, there is a finite number of days that have passed that were probably great. However, since the future days are infinite in number, there is an infinite number of future days that will probably be great.
As such, it is quite probable that some tomorrow is going to be great (if not greater) then the days prior to it.
Or, to put it another way... there are more great days ahead of us then behind us.
Of course, there's no reason to suspect, based on this analysis, that any specific future day is going to be greater then any specific previous day, but it can be taken for granted that sum totality of the future days will probably be greater then sum totality of the past days.

You have no reason to expect the universe is special? Speciality denotes a departure from the typical, and as far as I can tell there's no way to know what a "typical" universe is.
Regardless, I just think it's silly that you would allow for "a word" to start the universe, but not anything else. A will, a thought, a fire, a rooster named Loraine: they're all equally valid.

So, my old man says they found an old bayonet at his girlfriend's place, in the basement or under the house or something... I told them I'd consider buying it off of her. it sounded, from his description, like it was from somewhere between the American Civil War and WWI. After several hours of research, I've concluded that what we have is an Austrian Model 1854 Lorenz Socket Bayonet... Used extensively in the Civil war by the Confederates (and to a lesser extent by the Union) because large amounts of weapons were purchased by both sides from European armies trying to downsize, upgrade and/or just desperate for cash. The few examples of auctions I found online (mostly auction houses rather than ebay) place it at somewhere between $60-120. Since it's in fairly poor condition compared to the others I saw, I think I'll offer her $65 for it to start, and maybe go as high as $90 if I have to. Of course, I probably won't have to, since she doesn't really have any other options for selling it.

On the off chance you aren't trolling, you are aware that space exploration like this is on the frontier of our technological abilities? Pushing forth our frontiers doesn't always have immediate and discernable benefits, but the worlds of tommorrow will be uncovered eventually if we continue pushing back the veil.

I don't care about you.
That's funny. That's how I feel about you.
But I wasn't even talking to you.
You took a shot at ZB. RH is like a mother badger, she protects her young.
Least he's not like a honey badger.
Oh come on, lets not start this again!
Ok.
(actually, I think I just made it worse)

Im on like page 250, might be less for some of you, depending on how many posts you have set per page, I think mines 10? I dunno, I never counted, whatever the default is, I never changed it. So just keep going until it implodes?

Been working a lot. One of our guys is leaving... he got a job with Chevron, over-seeing gas well pad construction. That lucky bastard, the jobs a cake walk. Anyway, we are going to be shorthanded soon, which only means my workload will increase.
Anybody with a science degree anywhere near Pittsburgh looking for a job?

Meh, they usually ask us to make a new one cuz they still think 1k posts is too much for the boards even though the format is totally different now. But they haven't and there's much more high profile threads out there that are bigger now so I don't see a need to make a new one yet. Dawg.
