It has the potential to be very unbalancing, which is why the last example of a LB/HB weapon was changed in errata to just LB.
how so? I mean,
- potential doesn't really matter in an existing campaign (I mean, if it's a CON 12 rogue, giving him access to hammer rythm isn't overpowered; while things can be different for a CON 24 rogue)
- there's aleady the kopesh (heavy blade and axe)

And, if the truth be known a life of dubious virtue. I won't deny it - I've been engaged in violence, even indulged in it. I've maimed and killed adversaries, and not merely in self-defence. I've exhibited disregard for life, limb and property, and savoured every moment. You may not think it, to look of me but I have commanded armies, and conquered worlds. And though in achieving these things I've set morality aside, I have no regrets. For though I've led a double life, at least I can say - I've lived.

The big difference between Blade/Axe and H blade/L blade is that the second opens up a wealth of new feat options to Rogues, and the first does not. That might be the issue.
Light Blade is weirdly balanced because of how the Rogue works.

IIRC superior & high crit. (melee) rogues usually take rapier proficiency to exchance the +4/d4 dagger for a +3/d8 weapon. (option for throwing the dagger changes high crit)
I'm just wondering, what exactly are you saying here? The I'm interpreting what you're saying is the dagger is a +4 proficiency bonus weapon with a d4 damage die, and that the rapier is a +3 proficiency bonus weapon with a d8 damage die and high crit. Maybe this isn't 4th edition that you're talking about, but it sure looks that way, and if rapiers are high crit, I'd really like to know.

For a rogue, a dagger is a +4/d4 weapon: it has a +3 proficiency, but rogues get a free +1 with daggers. When rogues want to check out other weapons, this is important, because if they take an other weapon, they lose that +1. If a rogue takes a feat for rapier, he's not going from +3/d4 to +3/d8, but he's going from +(3+1)/d4 to +3/d8.
and that the rapier is a +3 proficiency bonus weapon with a d8 damage die and high crit.
I don't have my PHB here, so I'm not sure if rapiers have high crit. I do recall they are superiour light blades with a +3 attack and d8 damage.

Right! I completely forgot about the Rogue weapon talent. And, I looked it up, no rapiers don't have high crit, which is why I'm guessing they got bumped down to military.

didn't know that. Either way, for the rogue that's still a feat IIRC
