Looking through a few of the art galleries lately it has come to my attention that besided being more heavily armored and slightly green of skin you could paint most of the half orcs in the galleries with brown and tan tones and they are shifters.  I think it is just 1-2 of the artisits who it this way but I don't much like it.

and, a more general thought, pointy ears have to go.  Humans, dwarves, and goliaths are the only races without pointy ears at this point!  Maybe devas too... but seriously: the pointy ears can stop.

My mortgage, utilities, car payments, and Tuesday night game preparations make this observation far below my threshold of concern.
Here are the PHB essentia, in my opinion:
  • Three Basic Rules (p 11)
  • Power Types and Usage (p 54)
  • Skills (p178-179)
  • Feats (p 192)
  • Rest and Recovery (p 263)
  • All of Chapter 9 [Combat] (p 264-295)

A player needs to read the sections for building his or her character -- race, class, powers, feats, equipment, etc. But those are PC-specific. The above list is for everyone, regardless of the race or class or build or concept they are playing.

My need to catch legendaries in Pokemon Black makes this observation far below my threshold of concern.

Another day, another three or four entries to my Ignore List.

its 2 am on a 4 day weekend and Im on the D&D forum. Nothing is below my concern right now. And while I get that many believe to be above this, but I have to ask, why take the time to reply then?
Anyways...
I know what you mean, I played a shifter once, who was born and lived in a city, and thus the most accurate picture for him, was the main title picture of the Half Orc.
While Im sure thats no good for the Half Orc, it was great for me.

I want more pictrue of everyone though so I don't have to look out of my race for a good pic.
In the Nentir Vale, all injured creatures are required to wear a name tag!

+1

- Ampharos 4 Life

Why, yes, as a matter of fact I am the Unfailing Arbiter of All That Is Good Design (Even More So Than The Actual Developers) TM

Speaking of things that were badly designed, please check out this thread for my Minotaur fix. What have the critics said, you ask?
"If any of my players ask to play a Minotaur, I'm definitely offering this as an alternative to the official version." - EmpactWB
"If I ever feel like playing a Minotaur I'll know where to look!" - Undrave
"WoTC if you are reading this - please take this guy's advice." - Ferol_Debtor_of_Torm
"Really full of win. A minotaur that is actually attractive for more than just melee classes." - Cpt_Micha

Also, check out my recent GENASI variant! If you've ever wished that your Fire Genasi could actually set stuff on fire, your Water Genasi could actually swim, or your Wind Genasi could at least glide, then look no further.

Finally, check out my OPTIONS FOR EVERYONE article, an effort to give unique support to the races that WotC keeps forgetting about. Includes new racial feature options for the Changeling, Deva, Githzerai, Gnoll, Gnome, Goliath, Half-Orc, Kalashtar, Minotaur, Shadar-Kai, Thri-Kreen, Warforged and more!

Honestly, there's only so much variation you can have between two basically human species while still having them resemble a human on some level...

How "orcish" does a half-orc have to look before you see the pic and say, "That's a full orc, not a half-orc."?
How animalistic does a non-shifted shifter have to look before they become some random anthropomorphic animal or beastman?

As for the ears thing, I'd just like to point out that shardminds don't even have ears, and I'm not really sure if wildens do either since according to the artwork their entire heads are all randomly pointy...

Spoiler: Show

                           I am the Magic Man.
(Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.)

                      I am the Lawnmower Man.
                            (I AM GOD HERE!)

                           I am the Skull God.
                           (Koo Koo Ka Choo)

There are reasons they call me Mad...

Actually only 16 out of the 40 playable races have pointed ears and I'm including the gnoll, minotaur  and 3 goblinoid races in the pointy ear group. There's 7 races with no ears, that leaves 17 races with rounded ears.  Maybe there are too many races with rounded ears. I vote for more races with no ears, by my count there are 33 races with ears, why the prejudice against the earless.
