Making monsters in the VT could use some help, but you can upload a metric crapton of monsters, and make small tweaks to them, as well.

The DM tools are very well done. There are very few things I need them to fix.

More sex and gender equality and racial equality shouldn't even be an argument--it should simply be an assumption for any RPG that wants to stay relevant in the 21st century.

Thanks Mand, that sounds good.  It sounds like it should be released sometime this year hopefully.

Doc, I understand that creating a VT isn't easy, I sure as hell can't do it.  But for a large company to be this slow about it when it was promised 4 years ago...  Their excuse for a lot of things is they don't have enough people working on it.  That's a pretty lousy excuse.  I understand they're budget isn't endless, but they must realize that they're going to make more money if they actually get their promised tools working. They promised everything they're still working on at the launch of 4e.  They talked too big to work this slow.  I just signed up for 3 months of DDi after taking about a year off.  I really feel like I've wasted my money.  They're haven't been any improvements that I can notice in the last year.  The "Adventure tools" are still at the same level, which seems to be unnsatisfying to most people.  The character builder is still fine, though I preferred the offline format.  Dragon is so screwed up I don't know what to do with it.  I have to browse through articles one at a time from the web page...?  I want to be able to scan through an issue to see whats interesting.  I want them to support the old classes that people liked.  I've tried browsing through the last few issues of Dragon for content, but it seems to all be editorials or it isn't marked well.

I always had a lot of faith in Wizards, but I'm not happy with much after returning.  I think DDi is in a worse state than last year.   I wasn't interested in a single Dragon article I've come across looking at the last three issues (they're not even issues anymore, it's just the sum of articles from the month...).

Fix Dragon and give people what you promised years ago.

I was running, at one point, 2 weekly games, and playing in 2 *since then, we have alternated, so the same few of us aren't getting burned out just constantly running)

And I can say that the table is very intuitive.  It responds well, is very stable, and easy to use.. once you get the hang of it.  And really, getting the hang of it involves spending an hour or so in the VT in DM mode and just clicking away and learning the various features.  It took me far longer to learn 4e than it did to learn the VT.

Currently, they could probably get away with going Live with the VT.  The only setbacks are the lack of tiles, tokens, and memory space.  I don't know if it is an issue since moving to the Cloud, or whatnot, but it seems like we are forever fighting them for space.  And the drawing tools use up far more resources than the tiles do, but with the limited selection of tiles, we are forced to draw a lot of maps.  Example.  I can lay out tiles to fill a 74x74 (the available space) dungeon with little trouble, but if I try using the drawing tools in a 30x30 area, I run the risk of my adventure growing too large, real fast.  And since I am now running a bi-weekly Paragon game using a published adventure, the lack of space, and even the 20 hard cap on saved maps, is turning into a brick wall that is hard to get around.

Despite those setbacks, however, the VT makes playign D&D with people around the country rather convenient.  Once they throw in more tiles, tokens, saved map capacity, and available memory, it should be a rock solid product.

There is a campaign journal, and a place for Player's to put Player's Notes for the party. Initiative Tracker, Condition dashboard among other things. There is a a Pointer tool, tool to draw Line of sight, a tool to draw AoE zoomings etc...

I also really like the Integrated Voicechat built in. There is a couple Sound FX integrated, arrow fire, head slash, sword swing magic woosh etc...and there is a voice change which let you speak male to female, female to male, Orc, men with helmet, Elf etc...Very neat. It need polish, but as mates have said, what it does it does good.

Here if you want to have a look at it:  (We got Trevor and his buddy here about to take a hard beat by 3 Kobolds Tongue out)

That's a good sign then.  That means they didn't scrap everything they previously had and start over again.

(The GUI was developed pretty early on so I don't know what you were expecting to see different.)

Reflavoring: the change of flavor without changing any mechanical part of the game, no matter how small, in order to fit the mechanics to an otherwise unsupported concept.
Retexturing: the change of flavor (with at most minor mechanical adaptations) in order to effortlessly create support for a concept without inventing anything new.
Houseruling: the change, either minor or major, of the mechanics in order to better reflect a certain aspect of the game, including adapting the rules to fit an otherwise unsupported concept.
Homebrewing: the complete invention of something new that fits within the system in order to reflect an unsupported concept.

Default module =/= Core mechanic.

I'm not saying the stuff is easy, but could they maybe have more staff than some nerds in a basement that just got their two year degree from a tech school?  It's not like they're creating some high detail graphics adventure game.  IT'S A VIRTUAL TABLE TOP!  People have made them for free!  How much does it take to make to give a pretty UI and better functionality to an existing program?  I don't usually like to rip on WotC, but they really don't seem to care about their customers anymore.  My suggestion:

Step 1: Double your development staff
Step 2: ?
Step 3: Profit from all your increased subscriptions after word gets out that you finally fulfilled your                    biggest promise since 2007.

I'm in agreement with Agonar and Plaguescarred, it's the easiest virtual tabletop I've tried to use and fully functional currently. Yes, it absolutely needs more tiles/tokens/memory space, A LOT more. I'm constantly running out of room and just really need more of everything. But, I need more of everything because I'm running and playing frequently, and that's not something I could say before the VTT. I want it out of beta so that I can add 1 more game to my weekly roster, the most important one to me, and I hope that comes soon. But for those of you who haven't tried it, I can honestly say it's the opportunity to play with a really great bunch of guys and the chance to really level up your game.

Yes, it is the same visually as the video from last november, as it is the same VT.  And it runs on nearly any laptop/Desktop, and probably some Netbooks.

I can only imagine how many of their customers they would be alienating if they did, in fact, have that 3D monstrosity that they originally hoped to have before the original developing company flaked.  D&D shouldn't require an MMO-capable computer to play.  Personally, I am less concerned about the "oooh, I can stare at the pretty graphics all day" and more concerned about being able to play D&D.

GenCon's coming up, maybe we'll hear about it then...
