Well, to start off, the base of the tower has lots of jagged rocks and unusual landforms jutting upwards from the tower having been erected from the ground-up. There is a bridge which extends from the entrance of the tower to the beachhead that goes over these rocks.
There are high winds and a stormcloud surrounding the bulk of the tower-- making travelling across the bridge quite tough for most minor mortals and beings. The Reaper might not have much of a problem-- just would be somewhat of a nuisance for her.

This does not bode well for the now mortal king of gods.... Terror is coming from the north, and a currently unknown threat from the south... Plus the soon to be reemergance of his now twisted grandson, does not bode well for what was the only being to threaten him...
war is coming, and you are not prepared!
