Hey Folks,
I have recently gotten back into playing 3.5 D&D and I was hoping someone would be willing to shoot some ideas arounds around for a new character I want to develop if it is possible.
I want my character to be able to use Improvised Weapons as its weapons of choice to cut back on extra expenses of buying weapons. I think the high Skill should be Search, and Craft.
Am I just looking at a glorified Artificer?
Just a random ideas

so, you mean that the guy you want to play has no weapons and just picks up whatever is lieing around and go to town swinging it, whether it be a chair, rock, or a dead goblin?
or do you have a more precise definiton of improvised in mind,.?

Pretty much.
I just wasn't sure how to be able to build around what a -4 to hit.
And I was tossing out the craft idea so I can combine usless items into a weapon.

Well the probelm with that is, a chair or what have you was not built for fighting so you are never going to be as good at fighting with radnom stuff you just picked up than an actual weapon.
there is a feat called throw anything, i do bleive that allows you to hurl something at an opponent with little to no penalty.
and you are going to find soon (around 5-7th level) that you will need an actual weapon as if you walk into a wizard's shop and ask for a wagon wheel to be enchanted you are probably going to get kicked out
I think the throw anything feat would be good for you. maybe It is just me being to mush of a realist here, but I don't think that too many creatures are going to be scared or even worried about a guy who walks up to them trying to hit them with a mug of ale. thats just my 2 cents though.

The two editions are very different...and make for two different games.
In general, 3.0/3.5 is built around more-or-less full freedom in terms of character customization. In contrast, 4.0 is built around balance and ease of play. Honestly, I think WotC should have maintained both lines as parallel games. (real life friends came up with this not me) The Resident Nonexistant Antichrist Neanderthal Amish Werewolf Jesus Delusion.
