The problem is, and the source of all this 'errata' is the Wizards Play Network, or as I call the root of the problem, trying to balance a team-based-RPG like a competetive CCG. That is the problem.
"It's a cooperative game! That means that nothing has to be balanced! Who cares that your character is too weak to contribute/ powerful enough to overshadow all other characters? We're a TEAM!"
For some people, perhaps. But your statement is wrong on so many levels that I wonder if it's deliberate. Balance is key for an RPG- each character, as a team, needs to hold the spotlight in equal amounts. Do you even play D&D? Do you even understand that one of the basic philosophies of 4th is balance? Or are you just tying to shout loudly for some attention instead of having an open conversation? Cooperative hardly means one PC outplaying the other PCs with broken mechanics.

I'm fairly sure that was supposed to be satire.

Yeah.

I believe the point is that "4E IS A VIDJA GAEM!!!" comments shouldn't usually be given much credit.
EVERY DAY IS HORRIBLE POST DAY ON THE D&D FORUMS.
Everything makes me ANGRY (ESPECIALLY you, reader)

"How I detest namby-pamby whiners that expect to play a real RPG without threat of character death or loss of a level, stat points, or even choice magic items! Without such possibilities, what is the purpose of play, a race to see which character can have the greatest level, highest stats, and largest horde of treasure? That is just too flaccid for words." - E. Gary Gygax.

Well, this isin't reddit, so I think you can give more, but people might not count them.
Also, long time no see, and thanks for ditching the pink text. My old eyes thank you.

Thank you.
No one wins in the Edition Wars. The whole hobby loses. Wizards did not lose me as a DDI subscriber with the Online CB, they lost me long before that. And I have let my Herald Level GM Status lapse after 8 years. Wizards lack of support and the Edition Wars Trolls that are poorly moderated just managed to take all the fun out of public events. ~~ KT

I never really understood the change over to Essentials as a gateway product for lapsed gamers. The Player's Handbook is familiar and has been a known product for decades. Surely Wizards could use it to bring in new players.
The entry-level product in the olden days was a boxed set - either the white/wood-grain box of OD&D, or the large box-set of Basic D&D. AD&D 2e abandoned the box, but I think they kept publishing BECMI for a few years after it's release. Yes, the PH/DMG/MM have been the standard core rules since the 1e versions came out, but, for all of the 80s, there was also the Basic Set, and that was what most people started with, with the PH/DMG/MM triumvirate being the complete, advanced, game.
So, if you jumped ship after the 80s D&D fad, you probably still think of the starting product as a boxes set, thus the Red Box. That bit of Essentials is squarely aimed at the lapsed gamer who has fond memories of playing D&D in jr high or high school in the 80s. Some of the content, such as the simplistic Fighter, backstabbing Theif and mighty Mage, is also slanted slightly towards that target audience. The rest of the Essentials format is aimed at genuinely new gamers who might be intimidated by the 'sticker shock' of a $35 PH (even though getting anything close to the same amount of content from Essentials takes $40+).
Essentials was a wildly ambitious product line that tried to be all things to all people - including being both a new ed for those who were unhappy with 4e, and not-a-new-ed to those who weren't.
