I've been thinking of picking up Gamma World after playing a quick one shot last summer, but given the group I game with, I'll probably have to DM. Problem is, I'm a terrible/lazy DM. I think my friends would enjoy the setting/gameplay, but is there enough pre-built adventure content in the box that I could run it for a few sessions without having to write my own stuff? The description written on it is somewhat unclear, and I'm afraid of spending the money on a product I'll end up too lazy to really get use out of.

Yes. The adventure ('Steading of the Iron King') that comes with the boxed set has enough encounters for at least two sessions.
After that they might be ready for Famine in Far Go, then maybe Legion of Gold.
Also here are some pre-made, third party adventures (if desired):
Quest of the One-Armed Robot: lvl 1 delve by Kerry Jordan
Scales and Salvage: lvl 1 delve by Caoimhe Ora Snow
The Ray-Gun Revolution: lvl 4 scenario by Caoimhe Ora Snow
Underlord of the Roots: lvl 6 delve by Caoimhe Ora Snow
New Mexico campaign: lvl 1-3 adventures (include an Albuqerque Starport conversion) by CoreyHaim8myDog
