Hi there,

The monster manual section of the first book lists the dabbers (racoon mutants) as size small. The picture makes them look rather big, though. Anyone know (like from previous Gamma World editions) whether they're smaller than humans?

Previous GWs didn't worry about size catagories.

To the best of my knowledge, Alternity: Gamma World introduced Dabbers.
Although I don't recall a game effect from their size, they are described thusly:

Dabbers are a diminuitive (1 meter tall) race that resembles bipedal versions of ancient raccoons....Dabbers respect other, larger races and are willing to be tolerant of their attachment to things."  That attachment to things refers to Dabbers having a habit of scavenging including in other peoples' belongings.

Dabbers go back farther then Alternaty. In LEgion of Gold.

IIRC Dabber (1 m) and Bigguns(3m) were in the new mutants section. Two raccon based creatures.

Thanks for the help!

Managed to pick up 2nd Ed Gamma World at a gaming swapmeet today.  Don't know how I forgot seeing them around 1985 since all those pics are so iconic----but there was a dabber with a weapon slung up on its shoulder.  That edition notes them being 1 meter tall and tending to have some tech when encountered.  Pretty cool little beggars.

I actually used them to great effect recently by reskinning Monster Vault halflings and playing them as combatants from Call of Duty (in keeping with their awesome picture in the core book).
