I was searching through KB pages when I found this Wrath of Ashardalon FAQ. wizards.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/...It only has 6 items so far, but its a start!

Thanks for posting the link. I wish it were longer, but it answered a question I had Wrath of Ashardalon is a pretty fun game. The rules seem to have a few holes in some areas, but overall a good experience. If they tightened up the rules it would be excellent.

I don't see any issue with creating your own heroes, i've created a Illustractor template that anyone can use to do just this:

Nice job on the sword mage dude. looks like he'll work well. will definately be ripping off your ideas. where'd you get your art work from?
I created the the cards all by hand using Illustrator and picked up the Swordmage Picture from D&D content.
The Illustrations are up for download, and can be edited to your hearts content:

It's an okay FAQ, but there are two issues:
-I would hope Wizards would fix the grammar before posting this -and I think some of the Wizards folks misunderstood a couple of the questions and didn't answer them properly
