Von Ether? Etherlad? Is that you Ian?
No one wins in the Edition Wars. The whole hobby loses.

Wizards did not lose me as a DDI subscriber with the Online CB, they lost me long before that. And I have let my Herald Level GM Status lapse after 8 years. Wizards lack of support and the Edition Wars Trolls that are poorly moderated just managed to take all the fun out of public events.

My apologies. Me know only cut and paste.

And I am not an Ian, though I've used this Von Ether handle since the early years of the net and haven't met another VE yet.

I'm not looking for lots of expansion rulebooks, but some setting books or adventure scenarios would be neat. Think about some of the things that might have gone bad after the Big Mistake -- power plants, military bases, whatever. It would be neat to have some floor plans, maybe a couple of monsters that fit each scenario.

I'd like to see something that allows for a more serious game. Fewer giant cockroaches and more post holocaust goodies. I could see a supplement for something like that.

Sure...  Methinks he doth protest too much.

The Ian I was thinking of usually goes by Etherlad, which is why I asked. He's not big on d20 games, but I could se him doing Gamma World.

Here too. I'd also like to see the GW sized map packs. Make em for D&D too, like 3-4 to a pack at that size, with one of them being a GW themed map. Sell for $12-15. I'd buy them. I like poster maps over tiles, for ease of storage and use.

I can't agree with you more. I think with the number of fans, there will be a lot of great fanmade content to expand the rules. I still don't mind seeing the WotC release an official expansion to the level system. But as for rules dealing with the minutiae, I hope they don't waste their resources on that as I'm sure the fanmade content will be as good or better.

Yes maps and adventures. I totally agree. One of the great things about GW is the maps. Freesboro had this great streetscene map outside of a cave. FIFG had a great map on a street with an overturned big rig. GW really outdid themselves with maps. And personally I'd feel comfortable paying $20 for a 4 pack of maps of this quality.

The only problem with the maps is that they do tend to fade at the edges. One reason for tiles over maps. Also, tiles are reconfigurable. I also don't think wotc has ever sold a 4 pack of maps too...

Looking at the release schedule for WOTC it looks like that is it for GW?

Yep.  I've been a fan of GW since the first ed, and you get used to it.  GW has never had a decent run in any edition.  The 5th, for instance, was canceled before it hit the shelves, with just one suplement in the pipeline, so only those two books were ever available.

GW has often been other properties' bitch.  They use it to push whatever other game or trend they want to give a boost in popularity.  3rd: Marvel Super Heroes; 5th: Alternity; 6th: d20 Modern; 7th: making RPGs into CCGs.
