I quit for both this reason and the move away from compiled dragon/dungeon.  Viewing the magazines are a pain the ass on a per article basis on iOS.  It was a move away from 'ultimate portability'.

There is no longer a DDI icon on my account.  This is all because of the move online.  Dragon and Dungeon where never really a big part of my DDI sub, but I downloaded and read them as a compilation at the beginnign of the next month.  That just reafirmed my decision is all - and I saw it coming.

I  just hit the 20 character limit.  I will be ending my subscription.  The character limit is BEYOND any justification for a paid online service.

It is painfully obvious that Hasbro and Games Workshop work the system for maximum income.  When they do it in a way that limits your play/fun, they have to be called on it.  I am afraid that walking with our money will speak much louder than any talking or posting we do.

Just chiming in that I've also opted to let my subscription lapse.  I originally subscribed for one month in January of 2009, on the strength of the character builder demo.  I was so impressed with Insider that I signed up for a full year the following month, and extended a second year beginning in February 2010.

Unfortuantely, changes to the quality of the service, along with the price hike, has resulted in something I don't want to pay for.  I understand the piracy concerns, but the online CB is just difficult to use - often slow and always inelegant compared to the original version.  Delays in content delivery and questions surrounding quality of the work with Dragon Magazine have also been very disappointing.

I've stayed. The Compendium is worth all the gold even with its imperfections. The OCB too. The OMB will be too its a sure thing. The skinny Dungeon\Dragon no more compile was a hard hit. I like them. But i have way too many PDF right now in only two months. I still like what they bring to the game in one form or another.

The VT is nice and will be a big brother in the market soon. The Package all these combined will offer will be great for the D&D Community as a whole.

A Campaign Manager, a Forum, a Player Base and a Tool to play D&D... uniting everyone togheter.
Its already awesome and its BETA, i can only imagine when it'll be fully integrated and on the open market the power it will have in the Community....

I'll be there to see it... I'll be there to live it....

But thats only if all of those are integrated to work with each other, something that all things show them to probably not implement. I subscribed when DDi first went up, but allowed it to lapse after a very short time because I could see where thier shift was heading. I rethought about coming back, but after essentials was announced, Im glad I didnt. WotC is so obvious about its intentions to deliver half complete material, slow to fix, slower to update and even slower to give thier customers any feedback or accurate information regarding any of the above.

DDi would have to seriously step-up its quality and functionality to being alot of these people back, myself included. By step-up, I mean a near total rework like going from 3ed to 4ed.

They are, i am a BETA Tester and have actually run a few games using everything VT + CB + MB. Some stuff need polishing, but the thing work and is implemented.

We currently have a Campaign Manager that shows all the VT and you can JOIN a game and follow the appropriate Campaign Thread on the Forum. The Forum is Private because the VT is still a Closed BETA though so it cannot be viewed by everyone unfortunatly. But there are games run everyday. All using this Integration.

Soon DDi Subscribers (in a week actually) will start to receive invite to the BETA and we'll see a lot more activities. It will help monitor how it performs under Stress  as the traffic increase...

While I agree that the bolded statement is in fact true, I have trouble figuring what Games Workshop has to do with DDI.

I'm a BETA Tester to and I'd say the integration needs a lot more than a polish. The Character Builder, doesn't even import feats or equipment at the moment (not that the VT has any place for them to go). Then you have the problem that once a character has been imported from the CB, any updates you do in game can't be exported back to the character builder. So you end up with to versions of the Character, an up to date, but incomplete version (missing feats and other stuff) in the VT, and a "complete" but out of date version in the Character Builder.

At the moment the MB shouldn't really be called a monster builder, you can't build a monster with it, you can just change the level of an existing one.

As for the VT, it is so basic, in most areas it is way behind free versions available.

However, I still think they have got some things right. The Campagin Manager makes it easy to find pick up games, and the voice chat and initial set up are much simpler than other Virtual Tables I've used in the past.

I dropped DDI when it was clear that the gaming group I'm in, was not playing 4E and the new changes hammered home the fact I was waiting for a product that didn't exist. A whole year of paying for poor resources, buggy software and promises. They needed to get it right first then ask for money.
