Hello Gamma people.
I made up some printable (though not exactly printer friendly) map tiles for the campaign I'm running. Just some basic road tiles for now, but I'm working on some indoor, forest and some slightly more Gamma terrain laden stuff too.

Actually, I suspect these were made with Dundjinni. Which is good for you, because it's easier to use than Photoshop.

Actually, I used MapTool, with a collection of Dundjinni community textures. Little bit of tweaking the final product in Photoshop too.
Glad you guys like them. There will be more for sure.

Very nice work on these, Kang!
If you're open to suggestions, might I request a road going through a security gate with a guard shack? A lot of Gamma World campaign ideas seem to involve abandoned military sites and factories, so I think such a tile would be very useful.

Is this the sort of security gate you had in mind?

It's not done yet, most of the outside stuff is placehodler textures and everything's way too clean and perfect, but I'll Gammafy it a bit tomorrow.

Alright, what do you folks think is the best way for me to make the maps available to you?
Some are very big, which is a problem, as Map Tool doesn't export things well. I have used another program to blow them up at times, but then you get a degradation in image quality.
I will upload one here as a screenshot and see what happens.
LordKangus, what did you do to get your Map Tool pics the right size here?
EDIT: This is a very quick and dirty one made last night. It is much smaller than the other maps. I suppose I could screenshot portions of the other maps. For example, I made the whole Starport and Space Station from the Albequerque module (which I adapted to the new GW), those maps are pretty big.
Anyway, this is for Gamma Chicago which has been flooded by Lake Mitchgloom.

You mean proper 1 inch squares?
Map Menu ==> Adjust Grid... => Set Grid Size = 96
As to the file itself:
View Menu ==> Zoom => Zoom 1:1
File Menu ==> Export => Screenshot
That should export a screenshot at the correct scale.
I also trim/crop the edges in Photoshop (and do some minor touchups occasionally)
Hope this helps.
Nice map by the way... but the scale seems crazy off, since a square is roughly 5 feet.

It was just a test map to see what I could do with something smaller. You are right, the scale is crazy off. I'm going to go try your suggestions.
OK, take a look at this and tell me what you think. The issue is, a whole lot of map space got excised. There were three planes and a huge anchor on the original Map Tools map. I'm not sure it is sized right square-wise.
O,

The upscaling of the grids is messing up some of the maps. (Based on the layers, I think) objects move and such.
These are probably serviceable though: Sunshine Motel, Casino Floor

Unfortunately, how much area can be captured in a screenshot in MapTool is limited by your desktop resolution... your best bet may be to take multiple shots and rejoin them after they have been printed.... or in Photoshop or GIMP or something if you plan on printing them on some fancy pants large format printer I suppose.
Scaling looks just about perfect, on the Casino floor especially. I can see what you mean though by theupscaling of the grid messing with things... you may have to play with it a bit..
Truth of the matter is that MapTool is probably an awful tool to make printable map tiles with in the long run, since that isn't really what it was intended for.

Yeah, I found that out the hard way about Map Tool. I was planning to just hook it up to a TV and use it for my local game, but that has proved problematic. Recently I've been making simple, B&W maps on Ye Olde Map Maker.
With a little ingenuity, you can make some interesting Gamma World maps on that tool.

Thanks for the gate tile, LordKangus! One question: Would it be difficult to add a computer terminal on the desk to make it look more modern? Otherwise, it's pretty close to what I had in mind.

I definitely will add a computer, ChaoticGood. Like I said, I'm not quite done with the tile yet, I just wanted to make sure I was doing the right kind of gate.
Had some computer issues tonight, but this and a couple more new tiles will be ready soon.

I have been using LordKangus' method of zooming and setting the grid to 96 while making a map in map Tools. I am working on a parking garage for Freesboro. This is what I have so far. Let me know if it looks workable to any of you. I only have a B&W laser printer. With said printer it looks as if I could trim each tile and then make a whole map with four tiles. below is what the complete garage would look like if this works.
I changed them a bit, darkened the yellow lines, added a few shadows.

Yes, I was thinking that as well. Also, I need to extend them in the first tile.
Do you print yours out, or use Map Tool on HDTV? Or online?
EDIT: I darkened the lines and added some shadows. See the original post above.
Nice, security station. I have some computer pngs if you want them.

I don't know what you improvised, but it looks freakin' awesome. Thanks again, Kangus!
The parking garage tiles are also pretty sweet. How are you getting the auto imgaes? It almost looks like you scanned some ofthe nicer Matchbox cars.
