I was on the fence about D&DI until this announcement. I've tried to like the new character builder but with some pretty fundamental things still broken, I just don't see the point in using a product in that state and that has fewer features than the old builder. I *never* read the articles from the website. I download all the monthly issues every 3-4 months. This is the nail in the coffin for my subscription. Bye!

I think the fear that wizards is no longer compiling articles into PDF's will cause a loss in product quality is real and justified. As of 2/4/11 Dungeon 186 and Dragon 395 have not been completed. Both are missing articles, Eye on Dark sun and D&D alumni respectively. Although the old compilations werent always on time we usually got an apology or news on when they were coming. Now I think wizards believe they can just brush it under the carpet without anyone noticing... I sent an email to dndinsider@wizards.com and am awaiting a response. However my experience with companies is that they tend to be very silent when you are complaining. I will post again if I get a response.

Yet another reason to let my subscription lapse.

And they were very slim anyway, half what we used to get.

I am hugely disappointed by the loss of the Compliled issues. I always waited to print off the complied monthly magazine and would then read them at length while commuting to work.
Perhaps a worthwhile compromise might be to produce quarterly compilations of the magizines.

At this rate of content reduction, a quarterly compilation will soon be the size of our former monthly compilations =P

I just read in another thread that their monthly goal was 50,000 to 60,000 words per month for the combined magazines.
Don't believe everything you think

I rarely post to the Community Boards here, but now I feel like I have to voice my disappointment with this choice to not compile the issues every month. Seriously, this is a major annoyance to compile them article by article on my own computer—and it seems like it would be relatively simple on your end, WotC, to simply pull them altogether in a single file every month. Even if they don't come out at the very end of the month! That's fine, but this is one of the major reasons I have a subscription to DDI, and now I am going to end it. It is very difficult for me to check the website every day, or even to follow links from RSS to download new articles when they come out—however, I do very much enjoy sitting down with my iPad or laptop and flipping through the compiled issues of Dragon and Dungeon when I can find the time.
Frankly, not only should the simple process of compiling the issues at the end of the month be done, but the issues should be emailed to subscribers. I'm not really sure what I'm paying for at this point. It's better records, it's more convenient for your subscribers, and it cannot be a difficult or costly activity for your staff.
Please please please reconsider this decision. Thank you.

I, too, would like to see compilation PDFs reinstated.
It's very convenient to grab a single download to place on my NookColor.
It's also the primary reason I keep a D&Di subscription.
