I am looking for some form of (preferably) online means of creating overland maps for future LoCs.  We've muddled with Campaign Cartographer and Paint in the past, but those require one person to deal with the entire mess, which is less than ideal.  Anybody have anything they've stumbled on in the past?  I would think that there'd be something... somewhere...

What are you looking for in a map maker? Just some way to model terrain? Or do you want to be able to add terrain features, labels, etc.

Ideally something as close to the map I put up as possible.  One idea that I'm hoping to implement in the future to deal with our perennial issues of 'where is everything' and 'Everything seems to exist in a vacuum' is to actually have a "living" map that is updated regularly with peoples and places.  I'm even tempted to say that if you spend the PP but don't put it on the map, it doesn't count and you lose the PP... but I'm sure I can be convinced away from that position.

Obviously, if this is going to work, We're gonna need some sort of online tool to keep track of all of this.  Maplib works... sorta... for keeping track of populaces, but its not wholly ideal, nor can it place new terrain features.      Push comes to shove, I'm getting faster and faster with CC, so we might be able to get things working better/faster with some sort of weekly updated Maplib map that people would then mark that week's changes onto with pushpins and I would then modify the map and post a new one with the reset.

So that is my hope... but I've poked around myself and have come up empty.  Hopefully *you* know of something far superior!

(Triple posts are awesome, but only if they are on different topics)

Also:   Any major features that I missed on that map?  I haven't updated the PP expenditures in about two weeks, so nothing from those weeks has been included.   Also... had a hard time including things either underground or unorganized

Pretty sure some features have moved around since the last map (like TSO's volcano; didn't it used to be in the east?), but to the best of my knowledge nothing is outright missing.

Oh, I suppose the Moon is missing (and everything upon it).

I was going to suggest using the Civ V map editor to cartographize things, though that has obvious possible problems like scale, sameness (though compared to CC, it might look better anyway) an inability to label things directly (nothing a few minutes in Paint can't fix!) and hexes (which may rub some folks the wrong way).

If you look past the plot and the voice acting, Metroid: Other M was an okay game. Not a great game, but an adequate one.

Not using the Metroid item collect jingle though? That, was a mistake.

Oh Toe, you know I love it when you use your authoritative Admin-voice.

I think things are mostly good with the map, at least from what I can see. The only thing I would point out is that the Tarnished cities are in the wrong spot. They're supposed to be on and around that little peninsula slightly to the West of where they are now. Apart from that, it looks wonderful.

I was under the impression that the Dark Lands were in the southeast not the northwest. And no mention of the empyrian cities in the northern mountains.

Otherwise, looks nice.

Okay.  Those things noted.  Wasn't sure where TSO's volcano was either... so I put it where it would fill up space

And... I honestly have no idea what the Moon looks like.  Joran, you still around?

Those of us discussing moving the LoC game to a different forum on the WotC site, Veok has set up a thread in the group for further discussion: community.wizards.com/lordsofcreation/go...

I'm posting this link here because I've noticed we don't generally check the group as often as we should.

Yea, I'm still here occasionally. Think the Mediterranean Sea meets forest moon of Endor minus the Ewoks.

If I remember right, elven settlements are on the left hand side of the ocean, orc are northern side, and human/whatever else are on the eastern side of the ocean. All with great mystical spires even.

In the center of the ocean lays a small island that houses the temple of the gods. Which no one used. I swear I could have lit the thing up like Vegas and no one would have come!

I think next LOC we need to have some one make a forest and fuzzy little bear like beings!

Veok, there are four (fairly minor) issues with your post.

First, as we discussed, to take another god's domain you would need to create an artifact, rather than claiming the domain.

Second, you would really should actually be near that god in order to take their domain (when I asked, you said you hadn't traveled to the Shadowfell, but that is where the Silent One is). As it is, this is getting fairly close to breaking the omni-nots (gods are not omnipresent, omniscient, nor omnipotent).

Third, currently the Silent One doesn't have a domain to take: you had said that Isura didn't remove the chains but rather severed their connection to the leash, but that means that the chains are still on him and still transmitting, just that nothing is receiving. Thus, those chains would really need to be removed or destroyed first so that there is a domain for your new artifact to take.

And finally, Pamora already cut off your access of viewing through Mulfrost, so there are no psychic tendrils for Isura to view the Silent One through.
