Joran is probably right on that. Before we make life, we probably want to make light. Unless we want to work out a race that doesn't need light, but it might get a trifle confusing once light and dark get put in.
To whit, I could probably make the argument for when magic (me!) get's ascended, which I think should be after life. Or, that's what would make sense to me. It would fit with how I think I'm going to "set" magic up in this world.

I'd really have no trouble making life in darkness. There's a massive amount of examples to draw from.

I assumed light would show up when Fire was ascended, which should be any day now.

First, I created a draft of this first continent. It is just in black and white for now since there aren't any mountains or life. The Continent of Steve

Nerdzul, the "law" to respherize the world is that it has to be discussed in OOC. Currently the shape of the world is relying on the discussion that occured in this thread: community.wizards.com/lordsofcreation/go...In particular, Eyes of Argus seemed to sum it up nicely in this post: community.wizards.com/lordsofcreation/go...But links to other threads aside, a problem with a sphere-world is that it is far too much space, in my opinion. That is, the only time that a sphere-world and flat-world would be different is when we are dealing with planetary size-scales. That invites for expansion so that no single area actually gets well developed. But this paragraph is me speaking as a player, not as an admin. The shape of the world can be changed, but we need to know why it should be changed, what does such a change add to the world?

I feel that traditional world-shapes add to the usability of the setting (that is one of the purpose of the game right?) also having the air goddess overrule mine so much in his own domain feels a little disempowering I could have changed myself, I did not know that the discussion on the forum was finished with a definitive choice... there was nothing posted in the ooc here so...

Gah! Please, don't ascend too quickly. I know a lot of people are excited, but moderation is key.

Fair enough about the air-goddess bit, Nerdzul; do feel free to be pissed off at her. Even if you don't want to fight with her now, animosity can be a great spice to a game.
As for "traditional worldshapes" adding to the usability, that is possibile but my point was that on the scale that it seems we want to be working there isn't a mechanical difference between sphere and flat. What there is a difference of is in implied size. As long as flat has boundaries, people seem to have a much easier time imagining that it only comprises a continent and a bit of ocean. But a sphere and people start thinking planet-sized. But again, this is my preference as a player, not admin fiat. What do other people think?
EDIT: Also, thanks Aldii
