This seemed relevant to the topic. Thought you folks would enjoy, if you haven't read the whole thing yet.
Oh yes, that is a great comic. I started following it about the time of Helm's Deep. I was pretty sad when the follow-up imploded.
Edit: The comic got me thinking about the problems of adapting the LOR storyline completely. Instead of trying to do the events from the books and movies, I would set my game in the northern theater of the War of the Ring. It's an area mostly untouched in the main story but no less important to the success of the War for Gondor and Rohan in the south. That would leave the needed wiggle room for the players and GM to play in. I believe several games of recent years took this avenue as well.

LOL, "Of COURSE my version is a "valid" Aragorn! He just rolls natural 20s on every roll! Especially UNTRAINED skills! And his enemies roll natural 1s! Like duh!"
I rest my case.
Your case was that you don't understand I got it. An actual 20 isn't needed for everything but well how often did Aragon pick locks again inside the books? For that matter who mentioned him being a talented songwriter, it seems to be a big point on contention for you and I just don't reven remember that aspect of him. Especially the movie version (whom this thread is supposed to be about.)
LOL, I will grant you that "always rolls a natural 20 and his enemies always roll a natural 1" would be a totally valid version of Harry Potter.
I'm not going to describe Aragorn for you. Go read the books.
I just couldn't pass up the "natural 20" comment. Good luck with all your totally "valid" characters.
Way to stymie other people's creativity, dude. Very gentlemanly of you. And to think people complain about us powergamers... at least we can help salvage a concept's mechanical viability on occasion.

Well, if he's resting his case, that means he's left, so now we can do something constructive rather than argue with the troll.
Another day, another three or four entries to my Ignore List.
