Well, I do make all of my tiles/combat maps/maps myself. Has anyone mentioned the ability to import (or some other method to use) custom textures for that use?
Nope, no import right now. You have to use the limited map tiles.

And (as has been posted in the Beta forums) they really need a plain 1x1 tile. With this you can manufacture any shaped room you want. As it stands this is not possible. I'm expecting that to be added very soon as it's a no brainer and a simple fix/upgrade.

you can get around this by overlapping 2x1 tiles. not a perfect solution, but gets the job done, if you don't have too many tiles laid down.

Is there a way to do brutal or other reroll abilities without having to manually reroll the dice?
If you are doing a Brutal 1 on a d6, use 1d5+1 as your roll. Its statistically the same.
For a Brutal 2 on a 1d12, you would use 1d10+2

Wouldn't it theoretically be possible to crowdsource the communal maps for LFR adventures and the like? Just add them to a common database after the first person makes them? I know that (once I have access to VT) I'd be getting all the maps from my story area on VT for playtest purposes...

You can export characters, monsters, maps, and entire adventures with the VT. It's as simple as emailing your file to your friends.
Hopefully WotC will set up some kind of store where people can buy and sell (or share) their creations and take a small cut. This would increase the income from DDi and allow sharing and even scouting for dragon / dungeon articles...
I'd do it on my site, but the EULA says WotC owns anything you make in the VT, so that is not a legal option...

That's similar to what Blizzard did with WoW and add-ons. They added a policy where you can't charge for them. This is likely in the same vein in that they're not trying to steal your personal IP, but preventing you from profiting from their software/tool.

its possible yes. I've asked for some sort of structure for the community to share their maps, and the idea has been echoed by quite a few others. The Devs are definitely aware of the request.
We've got a few people starting out with some LFR maps already. I just received Core 1-1 from a helpful map-maker in the beta, and someone else is doing AGLA 1-1. Its difficult right now because we don't have a full set of tiles to work from, so we can't go nuts with doing all of them, but we are making due where we can.

I honestly think that we should be able to share all assets in some sort of framework. These forums are a great start. we have our own personal pages, blogs, etc. How hard would it be to allow me to share a character I made in the online CB, a monter I made in the online MB or a map I made in the online VTT and have it be linked to my profile here? It would then be trivial to add groups for these things (the cb character group, anyone?) Or even a landing page with special features for rating and finding these assets (a la the main blog page).
I really hope this is where they're going with this because that's a pretty exciting prospect imo and really plays to D&D's strengths (custom content) as well as the community here.
