Can I use the VTT as a mapmaker? Since it already has official dungeon tiles, I'd like to draw my map and print it at 1" scale for regular tabletop play.

@Frothsof - no word yet.  We'll be sure to let you know though.

@TufRat - No ability to print as far as I can see.

Took a look at the player token. Wouldn't be too hard to write a translation from the dnd4e file to this.

No ability to print? They've disabled print screen somehow? I find that hard to believe.

The holiday season is likely to be a bit spotty in general, and I'd expect that to hold true for development and patching as well... I personally would be surprised if they did a major expansion of testers before the Thanksgiving/ Christmas/ Kwanza/ Hannukah/ New Years timeframe is past.  It seems like right now they have a functional shell of a program, and if they're working on integrating the other tools they're probably going to want to keep it small scale until the big, unworkable bugs are ironed out.

Can you imagine the "VTT IS CRAP!!!" forum posts if they invited more people at an unpolished stage?

Actually, I'd have thought the holiday season is the perfect time to get people testing the VT - the time when people have more spare time than any other through the year.

And anyone saying "The VT is crap" has to temper that with the fact that we all know it's early days and it's a beta.

I don't think that when the VT is released into the wild it will be as good as MapTool is now.  But MapTool has had many years of development behind it.  The VT has 6 months.   It will take time for it to catch up - but it will eventually.

Talking with my brother and one of our gaming buddies, a few questions/suggestions we had for the table if they haven't been mentioned.

1.  Some type of audible alert for a PCs turn comes about i.e.  8 different type tones/sounds that would be played when a PCs turn comes about in the initiative order.  That way if they are distracted or are helping their significant other they would be audibly alerted that it's their turn.]

2.  Some way to have the color halo of the pc/creature whose turn it is glow so that locating their token on the map would be a little easier.

2 others that I know have been mentioned.

3.  Darkening the area affect squares just a bit.

4.  An audible alert of some kind indicating a critical roll when using the dice roller, not sure if this could be played only for the person rolling or not but that would be preferable, or have it disabled if dice rolls are marked private.

I know there was another one we talked about but my brain is addled from age and I can't remember hopefully they will tonight if we can the rest of the group together.

Two questions:

  1)  How does the program handle damage for weapons with the Brutal property?
  2)  Is there any way to indicate Auras for tokens?
