This is not subjective. It is in point of fact qualitative and quantitative.

But it's not a list of "unambiguous benefits".  Perhaps our grammar fu has failed.

What is the unambiguous benefit, for us, for us the existing users to the Character Builder being exclusively online?

So, in order for something to be a benefit it has to be better than something else.  Since we already have an offline builder we have to compare features.  Once we start comparing features we're going to make judgments about what features are more important to (better for) us (individually).  Our current usage also impacts this comparison (noted in the first 4 questions I posed) as these factors have an impact on the relative value of some features, making them either more or less worthwhile to have.  Perhaps what you were asking for all along was just a feature list.  If that was the case though, the question was very poorly worded to get such a response.

The point some are trying to make is that it being online is of no true benefit to anyone but WotC. The old builder allows what, five downloads per account.? Does anyone need it on more than that? There are plenty of gaming groups like mine that bring laptops to game in an enviroment that does not have internet access like our FLGS. To them this is a huge loss of utility and I can understand the disappointment. It doesn't matter what fancy bells and whistles that are added to the online builder if it can't be used in game.

I see the lack of offline use as more detrimental to players than beneficial. I am sure plenty disagree but I would have to hear a cogent argument to sway me.

What I have said repeatedly is that whether or not online only is a benefit to any individual person varies based on their situation (many factors).  Your group has laptops.  Now imagine if you didn't.  You and djordi are both projecting your personal situations and making the assertion that everyone is just as affected as you are when that is simply not true.  Take a step back and look at my first and third questions.  They speak directly to the issue of "online only" and whether or not it is a benefit.  There is no one blanket answer that applies to "everyone".

For me personally:  I am totally unaffected by this change.  I have a laptop, but I don't take it with me.  When/where I use the CB I have a dedicated internet connection.  I could start talking about "the future" and what benefits "might" happen but that's not relevant to the discussion.  That's not a benefit "right now".

The real benefit is this:

Since the CB has not updated every single month  (and will likely not update every month in the future). WOTC noted that subscribers would not pay until there was a confirmed update as they could still access their characters offline.

But now....If you don't subscribe..you do not have access to your character.
Profit for them.

As for the benefit to us (over the offline CB) ?
There is none.

P.S. All this assumes the online CB begins working correctly, If not the discussions should change from "Where is the benefit?" to "Why is there loss?"

Ok, let me rephrase. for people like my group, online only is not a benefit, to whom would it be a benefit?

Why does it matter?  Is your decision to have or not have DDI based on benefits to someone besides yourself?  To again quote myself.... "In the end it only matters if the product you are purchasing is worth the cost.  Other questions may be interesting, but irrelevant."

I feel the reason you are not answering the question is because the answer is: It will not benefit any player in any way you can think of.

Anyone else? Anyone at all?

It benefits the player who doesn't have a laptop.  Now he can access the builder at a friend's house (remember, installing the old CB on your friend's computers was in violation of the EULA, even if almost everyone did it anyways).

It still is.

The EULA still limits you to using the Character Builder on one computer.

They probably just need to change that... probably.
