I agree with PaoloM, repetion by the same people saying the same thing over and over is just not fun.
Like when a company keeps posting on its own fourms that they will have more info "soon", for example.

I, uh...well, I don't want to confirm Dane's worst suspicions about all of us, but could one of the VCLs maybe poke someone to see if they can put the next update date on November's calendar (since it's up now?)
I will poke.
Thank you kindly.

Am I the only one to notice that PaoloM's statement was a quote minus a line? the line was something along the lines of "It won't replace the other tools".
mwhahahahahahhahahah...
Let the speculation begin!

Good catch... so I will speculate
If Paolo really meant what he quoted, it probably meant it will supplement the Compendium, which is already web based.
I see no reason at all for WotC to develop a web based CB if it does not replace the existing one. That would just put more burden on the development team.

And what, pray tell, would you propose be done, short of outlawing negative comments bout the company/game/whatever? I can't imagine the latter would be practical, even if they wanted to.
Again, no one has even suggested (Not even Paolo) there can never be negative comments/feedback. Why is it the people who tend to do the most complaining and dog piling always go right to this arguement?
Is it really so hard to understand that they are asking you to continue to post your crits and feedback in a way that isn't obnoxious? How hard is it to stop from starting another thread on the same subject that someone else already started?
Is it really to hard to understand that not everyone is going to agree with you? And that you don't need to attack anyone that doesn't see things your way?
And before you even try it, I have always said people can think what they want, so long as they get the facts right. If you are going to be that angry over a game, you should at least be so because you have the facts right.
Is it just that you like the attention you eventually get for acting like this?

The word "supplement" has a meaning though.
–noun 1. something added to complete a thing, supply a deficiency, or reinforce or extend a whole. 2. a part added to a book, document, etc., to supply additional or later information, correct errors, or the like. 3. a part, usually of special character, issued as an additional feature of a newspaper or other periodical. 4. Geometry . the quantity by which an angle or an arc falls short of 180° or a semicircle. –verb (used with object) 5. to complete, add to, or extend by a supplement. 6. to form a supplement or addition to. 7. to supply (a deficiency).
None of these meanings have the word "replace" or "substitute" in them. Ergo, it is logical to assert that since PauloM is not a lier (a filthy, thrice cursed lier) that via his statement that the new tools would supplement that our offline CB (beloved as it is unto us, the people) is safe.
I_Roll_20s @twitter. Not always SFW.
I may prefer 4e, but I will play and enjoy almost any edition, and indeed almost any table top RPG, with my friends. Down with Edition Wars. Shut up and roll your dice. :P

The word "supplement" has a meaning though.
The sentence said "our existing tools" not "all of our existing tools".
The web based UI could also be seen as a supplement to the existing CB backend, which makes the stand alone app deprecated. It all depends on your POV

What you said was, that you had been asking them to "do something" about it for a long time. That implies more than politely asking them to stop.
Is it really to hard to understand that not everyone is going to agree with you? And that you don't need to attack anyone that doesn't see things your way?
Could ask you those same questions.
And before you even try it, I have always said people can think what they want, so long as they get the facts right. If you are going to be that angry over a game, you should at least be so because you have the facts right.
If you think you have always said the above, you need to look back over your posting history. Because you usually seem to be saying the exact opposite.

Seriously, the amount of effort some of you guys are putting in dissecting Paolo's comments would make most seasoned diplomats blush. Not sure whether I should or but please carry on it's amusing. edit: It's like watching a new show called "Grammar CSI".
