Yeah, Berserker Fury is nice.  I thnk there's also a feat that gives you a surge's worth of temps when you enter it, too.

A Dragonborn Slayer/Berserker would be fun.  Especially with Draconic Arrogance.

Does sweeping sword work on a spikec chain thanks to the stout property?

no it works with heavy blades and the spiked chain is a flail (or light blade with a feat).

Sweeping sword says it works with two handed blades, not heavy blades. Spiked chain is a blade (light blade being a type of blade). What I'm wondering is if the stout property means it counts as a two handed weapon when I'm weilding it as a double weapon.

Yes, Stout makes it count as a 2-handed weapon.  So yes, that works.  You're still better off with a Gouge, though.

If someone is going for a human slayer but - for theme reasons - doesn't want to dump stat anything to 8, the typical (pre-racial) stat array would leave them with 16/16/12/10/10/10 - is Con or Wis a better spot to put that 12? 12 is better in terms of Will defense, but leaves them lower on the surges/HP side.

Or is this possibly a case where dropping Dex to 14, and thereby freeing up a lot of stat points for a starting (pre-racial) array more along the lines of 16/14/13/13/10/10, would be a reasonable option? (This also has the side benefit of putting Superior Will within reach.)

WIS, for will.

But not dump statting will never be optimal, especially on a Human.

True, but this is a case of balancing roleplaying concerns against standard optimization concerns. It's also for a reasonably-casual home game so it's not like the character will suffer enormously if it isn't perfect.

16/16/12/10/10/10 is still seen as a better option over going 16/14/13/13/10/10 though? (The Slayer mainly loses 1 point of damage and Reflex by dropping Dex to 14, which seems like it would be easier to make up for in other ways than trying to cover for the lower Con/Wis, but I haven't had a look at the way its features work lately.)

I'd probably go for more balanced defences.

But to be honest, you role play the character however you feel like, whatever his stats might be.  A -1 mod makes so little difference as to be negligible.

This isn't for me! Most of the group doesn't visit the forums or CharOp though - and some of them are 'traditionalist' in terms of interpreting stat/fluff associations, which is why advising "take an 8 and ignore it" isn't likely to fly.
