That section of the site doesnt' work. You get stuck in a redirect loop. Leaving only posting as a way to voice your issues. Must be great to be able to say, Unhappy, here is a way to let us know, and link to something that, doesn't work.

And enough people have told you it doesn't work. And yet, you keep sending people there. Which is basically saying, Screw You.

Works fine for me. Sent a test email, got a response within an hour, filled out the survey.

That's fine, but I've done that myself to many times to bother. The site needs to work without hoop jumping on my part, and back and forth emails, saying, have you tried this? How about that? Oops seems the problems on our end.

You've just described basic troubleshooting though.

I know. However, I've been down that road several times, and it has always ended up being something wrong on their end, not mine. Which makes me think that the issues are tied to how an account is set up, and not clearing your browser or cookies or logging on and off.

And that means, their troubleshooting is putting bandaids on, and not fixing the real problem. So every time THEIR problem effects me, I have to do the email hoop dance.

And the fact that they know about, keep refering people to an area that is spotty in working, that ends up frustrating the customer, means they don't care (or not enough) to invest the time to fix it once and for all.

I think it would be great if you could see how many results you have in each field some how.

Perhaps on the drop down it could have a number beside each word telling you.

I'm sorry Mike, but I'm being really slow today.  Since you know that it does that... (in the dropdown) ... What point are you making?

Yeah nm it does it already, I just hadn't really used the new one yet and I was reiterating what someone else had told me without double checking it myself.

I think an elegant solution would be a tabbed interface in the results window (using CSS or what-have-you) - if you search for "thing" and there are 94 monsters, 22 items, 18 powers, and 65 feats related to "thing", then in the results area each of those is displayed under a "tab" for that category that, when clicked, shows you just that category (in other words, filters by category). The other filtering options are set at the time of search, or processed afterwards.

The hardest part would be if "thing" met every category, of course; that is a bit of a trial with screen width and so forth. The advantage is simply more information in an organized fashion; it's not "the One True Way," but an interface paradigm I think would increase usability.

I don't like it. We really need to have it display mixed results and then we can use filering to get the result set we want.

Make the filters check boxes or something.

What do you mean by "it" - tabbed categories after a search, or "it" as in "the Compendium?" Mind you, it don't befront me none if you aren't keen on the tabbing thing; I was just curious what "it" was. Edit: aha, you clarified, thanks.

The tabbing is something I see in databases I use every day, is all, and it is in my opinion a very useful first-pass filter (e.g., I search for "following gaze" in a psych database, and I can see - just making up numbers - 27 total hits, 22 of which are peer-reviewed, 3 are not peer reviewed, and 2 are newspaper articles). That information is shown in tabs, basically replacing the first step of search filtering (and, the filtering options are present at search time, at least in the database I'm using as my model). If the Compendium did it this way, and I search for Orc, I can see tabs saying there are 72 hits in "Creatures", 9 hits in "Backgrounds", 29 in "Feats", etc.)

But as said, it's just one way to approach providing useful information without extra clicking.

If you recall, that was functionally the old interface.  After you did the search, the various types of things you could be searching for had numbers beside them for numbers of hits.

The new interface just hides the tab buttons in the dropdown.
